Such a cool experience being the only ones out on the water while the sun was setting. Definitely book if you want a unique perspective on Florence while getting some amazing pictures. The river was smooth as glass making it easy for first timers. Wear clothes you don't mind getting wet, although they will store a change of clothes / valuable securely in their truck while you are out on the water.
We were a small group (outside of our family one couple) and there were no other kayakers on the water, just the occasional boat. The guide gave some explanation at the bridges and for the rest you could enjoy a unique view from the water. You can’t take such beautiful pictures of the Ponte Vecchio from the bank. Our tour was at 6.30pm so we also got the beautiful light of the sunset, and it wasn't too hot anymore. There was quite a bit of wind so even with the light boats the way out was sporty. An original and relaxed experience, better than expected!
We had a great time on this unique experience. We had the Arno to ourselves- literally no other boats or kayaks- and loved the leisurely tour seeing a very special side of the city. We can’t recommend this enough!
Florence is an incredible city. But with a young family (9 year old and 5 year old girls) it can be hard to find activities that the whole family love. We’d bribed the girls with gelato and gifts to go through art galleries, but wanted to find some activities that we both enjoyed equally. This was it. A couple of hours around sunset, paddling along the Arno River was incredible. Totally different way to see the city, incredible pics under the Ponte Vecchio and some informative infro from our guide. Really glad we booked the 2 seater canoes so we could paddle around at our own leisure, as opposed to being in the larger boat with other people (not that that didn’t look fun, but just not as much fun). Honestly our favourite activity in Florence. And something we would have done even if we didn’t have kids. Highly recommended.
