Nugget Falls was beautiful. Saw 24 whales bubble feeding. Dylan, our driver, was very informative. On the boat, Larry and Kacie were great, but Taylor was Awesome! He is a total whale nerd!
This was a MAGICAL day! We had so much fun on the whale watching excursion and I’m so glad that I booked with Alaska Tails and not through the cruise ship. Lexi picked us up in the harbor and drove us to Mendenhall Glacier and to the boat, we had to listen to her really bad dad jokes but I give her an A for her enthusiasm. The whale watching tour was AMAZING. Griffin (aka) the Cookie Monster was our naturalist and shared lots of great info with us. We were lucky to see multiple “pods” of whales, they said that if they see 4-5 whales they are lucky and we got to see 20 different whales! One came right up next to our boat and we even got to see one jump! Unforgettable experience, highly recommend!
My husband and I booked last minute as we weren’t sure what we wanted to do. We did the whale watching and Mendenhall Glacier. The bus driver was great. Said tons of interesting facts about the area. We had 1 hour at the glacier and we went to the Nugget waterfall and back. It was beautiful. The whale watching trip was the highlight of the tour in the two hours that we had we were able to see over 19 humpback whales bubble feeding which is super rare and I was so excited to be able to see the guides were even able to identify some of the whales that they knew we had Larry Gwynn and Kacey. It was a great tour and we would definitely go back.
My family had an amazing experience during this excursion. The Mendenhall Glacier was great to see. For us it was the first stop of the excursion, we had an hour to visit and then we took the bus to the dock for the whale watching. We had an amazing weather day and were able to see about 20 Humpback Whales Bubble feeding. It was truly an amazing site to see these whales in the wild. Our tour guides were Griffin and Morgan and James was our captain. They were amazing and just as excited to see so many whales at 1 time. They even place a hydrophone in the water and we could hear the whales under water. At one point the sound was so loud and the whales surfaced right behind our boat. This excursion was probably the highlight of our trip. Having a sunny beautiful day made it even better. Customer service was great as well. After the excursion was booked our cruise times looked as if they were going to change and I called the office concerned and the girl I spoke with was very sweet, checked the times and stated everyone on our excursion was from our cruise ship and we had no reason to worry. Great experience with Alaska Tales - would definitely use again and recommend.
Truly amazing experience whale watching. We saw over 25 whales bubbling and entertaining us on our two hour tour. Griffin was unbelievably excited for us and so entertaining and enthusiastic. Monica so knowledgeable and Captain Janes excellent driver. Never will experience anything like this again. Alaska Tails very well organized and bus driver Lexi made the trip to and from entertaining. Great all around day. Mendenhall Glacier a must see before it's gone!
Michelle (captain), Ash & Gwen were exceptional! These gal’s know WHALES and where to find them. They know each humpback whale by name. I think one of the guides may be a “whale whisperer”. This company is not sponsored by any of the cruise lines, but don’t let that fool you. They are a step above them, GUARANTEED! If you want a “WHALE” of a story to tell, sign up for this trip!
The naturalists were fun and knowledgeable! We had an amazing trip! We saw so many humpback whales! I wish we had more time at the glacier, but the tour was punctual and got us back to the ship right when they said they would. The trip was about $100 less per person than if we booked through the cruise. Would recommend!
The trip was excellent and the guides were very informative. Michelle, Ash, and Gwen were the best. I would advise everyone to use this company. Five star service
Michelle (Captain), Ash and Gwen were all wonderful hosts, and created an informative and fruitful whale watching experience. Mendenhall glacier part of trip was self guided and good for photo ops.
We went whale watching & pretty much had the most magical experience EVER!!🤩 We had Captain Michelle, Ash, & Gwen & they were GIRL BOSSES that handled business! We saw a gam of whales (over 17 whales) for over an hour & it was nothing short of SPECTACULAR!!🥳 Support local & book with these wonderful people.❤️
