Our expert captains and naturalists are so familiar with these amazing creatures that we can actually guarantee you will see whales in their natural habitat from a safe distance. Our state of the art boats are equipped with restrooms and heated cabins to make this journey extra comfortable. Our fleet of fast jet boats all have plenty of outdoor deck space so you can choose to watch the wildlife in the open air or from the comfort of the cabin. Please meet your tour representative 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time underneath the tent on the wooden dock that is on the water-side of the large red Mt Robert's Tramway building (building that houses the gondola that goes up the mountain) at the main Cruise Ship Terminal. The address is 490 S Franklin St, Juneau, AK 99801 and the pickup location is on the ocean-side of the building. Your Alaska Tales Tour Representative will be holding a sign that will read, "Alaska Tales". If you have any trouble finding this person, please call us.

Goodness gracious. I was a bit skeptical if we were really going to enjoy ourselves. But from the start, we got picked by Lexie and went on a bus tour through Juneau while she narrated, she was incredible. Now the tour, from the captain James to deck hands Griffin and Monica. Griffin definitely stole the show, he is so knowledgeable and energetic, keeps you on your toes. One of the most animated people you will meet. Seeing over 20 whales bubble-net feeding countless times and about 4 breaches, we got so lucky. What an incredible time, 10 out of 10 tour.
Griffin was amazing and I learned so much and saw the craziest experience of my life thank you so much to this crew!!!
Highly recommend Alaska Tales. We were in Juneau for the day and booked directly with them once we got off the dock. Every interaction we had with each member was friendly and courteous. The crew on board really seemed knowledgeable and loved their job. Nate and Krichelle were amazing.

This was one of the best experiences of my life!!! We saw a large pod of about 18 whales bubble netting and it was truly a life changing experience. Justin, Monica, and Claire were absolutely wonderful and I would book this again in a heartbeat! I cannot even describe how magical this was!

Alaska Tales Whale Watching Excursion 📅 8/19/26 | ⏰ 3 PM Tour ⚓ Captain Larry, Taylor & Kacie What an AMAZING experience! 🐋🦅🐻 On our way out, we spotted a bear AND an eagle, which was already incredible… but then came the whales! We had at least 9 whales surface around us, and some came unbelievably close — practically within reaching distance! 😱🐋 For safety and legal requirements, the boat was turned off while they were that close and we simply got to enjoy the moment. The best part? Captain Larry, Taylor, and Kacie were just as excited as we were! They told us they had never experienced the whales coming that close before. It truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We booked Alaska Tales on our own after getting off the ship, rather than purchasing an excursion through the cruise line, and we are SO glad we did! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋 5 whales out of 5!
