Easy trip from Dublin

A thoroughly enjoyable and dog friendly trip. Interesting to hear the story of this government owned asset. Enjoyable to see the various horses including some retired stars. Peaceful to explore the Japanese garden.

This is a beautiful experience!

The horses are amazing and to be able to pet the foals and mares made this a memory that my 6 yr old granddaughters will long remember. Besides that, the Japanese Garden and Fairy Garden were gorgeous and an amazing backdrop to the horses. This facility to world class and very well kept. This was a magical event that you should not miss.

Faugheen was the highlight. He's so friendly.

Super time again at the stud. Loved seeing the retired race horses especially. Faugheen stood by the gate for rubs and photos and he looks amazing at 18 years old. My niece loved the friendly connemara foal, Polly. Also, 4 of the weanies were very friendly. Luckily we had a lovely sunny day for it which made the place look so beautiful.

Great day out

Amazing place to visit and spend a day. I would highly recommend doing the guided tour. Charlie our tour guide was very good and great craic. He spoke very well and answered all questions answered. We went with friends and all our kids enjoyed it loads. The crowd size was not too large and didn’t feel like I couldn’t hear or see at any point. The family of 4 admission fee was very reasonable for a great day out. The racehorse experience is also a must. We laughed so much and learned loads about the steps of racehorses.

A tour for horselovers!

A truly uplifting and interesting tour. For horselovers you come close to foals ( back scratching!) and retired top racehorse. You are free to spend the day there and just absorb the armosphere. Loved it!

Interesting place to visit.

We were looking for something to do on way back to Dublin. It was a great surprise, the gardens were beautiful. We took the time to do the free tour and learn about the stud and history. Also did the experience centre which was a lot of fun. All included in the entrance price. Throughly enjoyed it

The Irish National Stud is Heaven on Earth 🐎☘️

Before diving into my review, please note that the Japanese Gardens are not wheelchair or pram friendly. The paths are quite narrow, and there are steep steps and stepping stones throughout Booked this day out months in advance as a joint Christmas and Birthday present for my dad, and we were both in complete awe. We stayed in Kildare and took the lovely 20 minute walk from our hotel to the venue, enjoying the "12 furlong walk" through Kildare village where we learned about famous racehorses and jockeys. People are right—this truly is the horse capital of Ireland! We arrived just before 12:00 and the desk staff encouraged us to jump onto the guided tour that was about to begin. Our guide, Kieran, was absolutely amazing! He was warm, chatty, and clearly passionate about his job. Highlights of our guided tour included: • Getting up close with legendary stallions like Invincible Spirit and their newly acquired stallion Arizona Blaze. • Listening to Kieran give an incredibly in-depth talk about the birthing and weaning process. We even got to meet a mare and her foal who walked right up to the fence to say hello! • Seeing racing royalty Beef or Salmon, Faugheen, Hurricane Fly, and Sizing John (who absolutely loved the crowd's attention). After the tour we explored St. Fiachra's garden, which was peaceful and beautiful. Getting to see so many ducks just added to the peacefulness for me! Our last stop after the Racehorse Experience was the stunning Japanese Gardens. Photos do not do these areas justice, you need to see them in person to really appreciate them! The Irish Racehorse Experience: This interactive element was incredible from start to finish. It shows you the immense work that goes into training a racehorse. You get to pick a horse, name them, choose a training yard to help get them ready for racing, and virtually "ride" their first race. (My horse won, of course! 😉). Highly recommend booking this with your admission tickets as a free add-on, it's a super informative and fun experience! Overall this whole day was worth every single penny. The staff are welcoming, the grounds are impeccably cared for, and the love for the animals shines through everything they do. You do not need to be a horse expert to love this place. It is an absolute must-visit!
