Beautiful hot springs but should be phone free

Versus other springs nearer to Reykjavik, hvammsvik is a good price. There's multiple pools of different temperatures and sizes so lots of choice. Including an ocean plunge pool outside the sauna and you can even go directly into the sea (ps, it's very cold!) We arrived at opening time 10.30 and it didn't feel too busy. By leaving at 1, the pools were much busier but not overcrowded. We bought the comfort package (most expensive) and got swim shoes (useful as it's rocky between some pools) and a towel. You also had separate changing rooms to the basic package but still had to change in a public female locker room. Lockers are very big, you'll fit all you need. Lost a point because I highly believe it should be a phone free experience. There were lots of people taking photos of the pools with you in them which made me feel uncomfortable. No respect for privacy. Then there's also wannabe influencers spending all their time having their boyfriends snap 100s of photos of them in the most scenic spots, making me move a few times so as not to be in shot. Ruined the calming atmosphere for me

Well located

Beautiful spot. Facilities well maintained. Could be less people. And my entrance included drinks but they charged money from us.

Good spa but naked men in the women's changing room

The experience was wonderful, but remember that you can choose which changing room you want. It is their policy. So when we were there there was a man in the women's changing room. So you are sensitive to this, so choose another place. The staff told us that when we pointed it out to them. Feltely unpleasant because it brought dirt into the changing room.

This place is awesome

This is an amazing facility in a magical setting. You’re sitting in a hot spring next to (or in!) the North Atlantic while the cool wind is blowing and sipping your cocktail enjoying the scenery. The kids loved it. Lots of pools. Never felt crowded. We got there at high tide and the ocean spring was overflowing with cold ocean water, however near the end of our time there the tide receded and the ocean spring started to warm up. It was fun to be in! We were there 3-3.5 hours total. Did not eat there. Great time! I would go back to this before returning to Blue Lagoon.

Beautiful scenery but small locker room

Hvammsvik is about 50 min drive from Reykjavik one way. We booked our tickets online and selected the time spot. You can rent towels for $11 each and water shoes as well. Free parking is available. We enjoyed the scenery and hot springs. Checkin was easy as well- you are given an electronic wristband to lock your locker but can also be used to order drinks at the swim up bar. The only disadvantages are the small locker room and there was only 4 showers in the women's locker room , so you had to wait a bit to shower before and after. We went a day after the solar eclipse so it was pretty packed with tourists and weren't able to wait for a dinner table at the bistro. Otherwise, the hot spring is delightful and enjoyable.

Want to go back for longer!

Of all the great experiences we had Iceland I think this was probably my favourite. The journey there ( about 45 minutes from Reykjavik) was scenic and the view from the hot springs was spectacular. We spent some time in all of the hot pools , the sauna and steam room and went in and out of the sea ( we had beach shoes but I think you can borrow them there ) and enjoyed every second. I wish we could go back and spend the whole day there , there really is nowhere like it.

magical!

A meal at this bistro is the perfect complement to the wonderful experience at the Hvammsvik geothermal baths. The dishes are truly excellent — special mention goes to the shrimp salad — and the staff are courteous and efficient. In a word: magical!

This was one of the most...

This was one of the most relaxing experiences of our trip. The hot spring has a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere, with multiple pools at different temperatures, so it was easy to find the perfect spot to unwind. Even though there were other visitors, the layout made it feel peaceful and never overcrowded. The surrounding scenery is beautiful, and soaking in the warm water while taking in the views was unforgettable. One of the highlights was spotting a seal swimming nearby, which made the experience feel even more unique and connected to nature. The facilities were clean and well maintained, and we never felt rushed. Whether you’re looking to relax after a day of exploring or simply enjoy Iceland’s incredible natural beauty, this hot spring is absolutely worth visiting. We would happily return on a future trip.

Hot spring happiness!

Such a fun way to start our trip to Iceland! Plenty of hot temperature options in the various hot spring pools and an option to cold plunge too! Great swim up bar offering cocktails, mocktails & hot chocolate to complete the relaxation experience. Locker room was clean and offered hairdryers & lockers. Not crowded in the morning which was a real treat!

Mountainside setting off an Ocean bay and beach.

Lovely hot pools designed with rocks- several pools warmer and hotter. Steam room area, sauna and bar service in main pool. Gorgeous setting. If you go, try to pick a blue sky day. If not, it's still a lovely mountain side setting- an hour's drive from Reykjavik, I went at 10am the pool was quiet. Try to buy ticket in advance- bring a towel and water shoes of some kind. The beach area is pebbles.
