Join us for a short small group tour to the famous Goðafoss Waterfall, one of the most popular tourist destination in North Iceland. On the way back to Akureyri we drive along the coast of Eyjafjordur, one of the longest fjords in Iceland where you can see over the fjord to Akureyri and take a great photo. Enjoy a short introduction to Akureyri town, driving through the Old Town and visit the pearl of Akureyri, the Botanical Gardens.

Goðafoss Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. Nicknamed the Waterfall of the Gods due to its history. In the year 1000, Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði made Christianity the official religion of Iceland and proceeded with throwing his statues of gods into the waterfall. The water falls from a height of 12 meters over a width of 30 meters.
Enjoy a short introduction to Akureyri town, driving through the Old Town, learning some key facts about the history of the town.
Enjoy a stroll in one of the northernmost botanical gardens in the world, located just below the Arctic Circle.

Pickup Locations & Times
Pickup Information If you are arriving in Akureyri by cruise ship, please ensure you have provided us with the name of your vessel, as there are multiple ports in Akureyri. Tangabryggja Port: Just outside the cruise ship area, you will see several small wooden houses. Star Travel is located at house number 3, and we will meet you there. Oddeyrarbryggja Port: Right outside the ship, you will find an Icewear shop. Next to it is the designated agent area where all tour agents wait for their customers. We will be there with a Star Travel sign. Look for one of our colleagues wearing a bright yellow jacket. If you are staying in Akureyri, please ensure you have selected the correct accommodation for pickup. Lastly, please make sure the phone number you provided is reachable in case we need to contact you with any updates or changes.

This was the third tour we booked though Viator on our cruise around Iceland and not as well organised. We had booked to see the Godafoss waterfall and the botanical gardens. The tour company that Viator had chosen, subcontracted the booking to another tour company that was only going to the waterfall. We had to request to be dropped off at the botanical gardens. There was no guided tour and we had to ask the driver to pick us to return to the ship. Having said that the drive to the waterfall and the waterfall itself was very interesting and the driver/guide very good and helpful. This tour was expensive (even for Iceland) and when I asked about the price I was told it was taxes and tunnel tolls, but we did not go through the tunnel. We did find out the previous day from Tourist information that there was a free bus to the waterfall and that the botanical gardens was free entrance and walking distance from the cruise terminal. So, we feel very strongly, nice as it was to see the two attractions, the price was exorbitant and feel we should get at least a 50% refund

The botanical gardens were offered as an additional stop by the guide, but this option was declined at the time. We always try to be flexible and offer alternatives whenever possible to make the experience as enjoyable as we can. The tour is great. The waterfall and the gardens are beautiful. I would recommend the tour if there was another operator. Our problem was the tour operator. They left us stranded at the gardens and did not answer their phone. Viatour was very helpful and processed a refund and gave us information about returning to our ship.

We’re sorry to hear about the frustration you experienced, but we would like to clarify that our tours operate on a set schedule to ensure all guests can enjoy their time and return safely and punctually. Unfortunately, when guests are not back at the designated meeting point on time, the tour must continue as scheduled. Our team did attempt to reach out, but as we must also respect the schedules of other guests, we could not delay the entire group.
Bathroom lines at the falls are really long, and you must pay. By the time we went to the falls and walked up to the bathrooms there wasn’t enough time to wait in line, so I couldn’t go. Suggest adding about 15 minutes to the time.

Wonderful tour. Our guide/driver was very knowledgeable. The meeting place was easy to find and the tour was the perfect amount of time. The waterfall was amazing and the botanical gardens were beautiful. We were fortunate to have spectacular weather which definitely made a difference for this particular tour.

Listen carefully to pick up instructions. Driver lost people twice! First time, van moved 1/4 mile away and driver left, making it difficult to find correct pickup spot. Second stop, driver locked vehicle and went to chit-chat with other drivers, leaving passengers waiting in the cold. The falls were amazing. The botanical garden was a free city park.

This was a great little excursion. Our guide was funny, flexible, and very informative. The falls were worth seeing. After the tour our guide gave us the option to walk through town back to the ship, and we happily did!
