Itinerary

Campanile di Giotto
Admission included45 min

Giotto’s Bell Tower (Campanile di Giotto) is one of Florence’s most iconic landmarks and a true masterpiece of Gothic art. Rising elegantly beside the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, this stunning tower was designed by the famous artist Giotto di Bondone in the 14th century. Clad in dazzling panels of white, green, and pink marble, the bell tower perfectly reflects the rich artistic spirit of Florence. Its intricate decorative details, including sculpted reliefs and statues, tell stories from the Bible and celebrate human creativity and craftsmanship. Every level of the tower reveals new artistic treasures, making it as much a museum as an architectural wonder. Standing about 85 meters tall, the Campanile offers visitors an unforgettable experience. Climbing its 414 steps rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views over Florence’s historic center—the red rooftops, the majestic Duomo, and the rolling Tuscan hills beyond.

The Florence Cathedral (Duomo di Firenze) is one of the most breathtaking landmarks in Italy and a symbol of the city’s artistic and cultural heritage. Its exterior is a stunning masterpiece of Italian Gothic architecture, covered in intricate panels of white, green, and pink marble that shine beautifully under the Tuscan sun. The richly decorated façade captivates visitors with its detailed carvings, statues, and ornamental patterns, reflecting centuries of artistic excellence and devotion. Duomo Gioto ticket.

Booked a Gioto ticket which covered the Cathedral, museum, baptitry, crypt, bell tower (timed entry). Not cover the dome itself. Book that in advance. Ticket covers you for 3 to 5 days entry but only once. The bell tower access IS the timed day and time part. Great views from top of tower, but be aware it is steep , narrow, not much air, one way up and down so can be cosy with others passing. There are levels in the tower to stop and take a breather, I think at least 3 areas. No toilet facilities so go before you climb. Take a water and snack. Takes about 45 mins to go to the top and back but with rest stops and enjoying the view , allow double that to make it enjoyable and not he'll. Small children will find it hard going as will those with mobility issues. Saw many ages doing the tower from 20s to 80s. The Duomo interior is a bit of an anti climax, as the outside is stunning. Another church close by looks boring on outside, but totally BREATHTAKING inside. Worth the money even so. Currently there are renovations going on for possibly next 2 years so there is some scaffolding, so something for the builders to admire.

Don’t buy tickets from here

I was issued tickets by Viator with instructions on what to do. We followed those instructions to the letter but were denied entry to when we arrived by the Duomo officials. They told us we did not have correct tickets and because they were issued by a third party we needed to talk to them. When we contacted Viator they kept repeating that the tickets were sent and they should work. There was no one in person who could assist or discuss it with local officials to work out the problem. I asked for a refund because we never got entry to any of the activities we paid for, they declined. Don’t use this company. If there is a problem there is no one to help you and If the local officials decide they won’t accept the ticket, Viator won’t do anything. Better off buying your ticket direct, not from a third party.

Scaffolding surrounding tower!

Very disappointing. At the time of booking we were not advised the tower and whole site would be surrounded by scaffolding, which ruined the experience.
