Highly recommended!

This tour is highly recommended. Our guide took us through the most important parts of Savannah's history and truly brought the past to life. It was time well spent, especially since we only had one full day in the city. Thank you!

Fantastic tour with most knowledgeable guide!

Our guide, Julianna, expressed her deep love and knowledge of the history of Savannah during the tour. She was quite thorough. She was very personable. Use of the audio devices were a great idea for an outdoor tour like this. The tour never felt rushed, despite the fact that we were battling mid-90 degree temperatures on a July morning!

A Hit with All 13 of Us

I’ve taken several ghost tours on previous visits to Savannah. Some were excellent; others were cheesy and a waste of money. When planning a recent trip for 13 lifelong friends, I knew a ghost tour was a must—but I also knew I had to find the best one. Thanks to a recommendation from our Airbnb host, I discovered Genteel & Bard. Before booking, I had a wonderful conversation with the owner, TC. He assured me that his tours focus on history and documented facts rather than cheap scares, which was exactly what I was looking for. One member of our group is a self-proclaimed "scaredy-cat" and was hesitant to go, so TC's explanation of the tour's approach completely put my mind at ease. After our conversation, I didn't hesitate to book a private tour. He even told me he would personally be our guide. I was a little disappointed to learn that TC's plans had changed and someone else would be leading our tour. That disappointment disappeared the moment we met Jovy. Jovy was an exceptional guide. Before we even left The Olde Pink House—where TC had graciously arranged for our tour to begin following our group dinner—Jovy already knew everyone's names. As a food tour guide in Nashville myself, I know firsthand what an impressive feat that is with a group of 13. Throughout the evening, Jovy spoke clearly, kept everyone engaged, and frequently checked on the group, again addressing each of us by name. His storytelling was engaging, informative, and perfectly paced, blending Savannah's fascinating history with just the right amount of mystery and darker tales. Everyone enjoyed the tour—and that's saying something when you're traveling with 13 women who all have different interests. Several people said it was their favorite activity of the entire trip. One friend even admitted she was surprised it topped her list because she normally doesn't enjoy ghost tours. We all agreed that the stories were fascinating, but it was Jovy who made the experience truly memorable. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Genteel & Bard—and especially Jovy—to anyone visiting Savannah who wants to learn the city's rich history while hearing a few intriguing and darker stories along the way. This wasn't just a ghost tour; it was one of the highlights of our trip.

The right walking tour on Savannah

Our tour guide David was exceptional as gave a very detailed overview/ history of Savannah and made it interesting by asking us questions… not to test you knowledge or put you on the spot; but so when you get the answer it sticks in your brain. Very personable and made you feel comfortable from the get go. A must tour with Genteel and Bard when visiting Savannah!

Highly recommended!

Super happy with our tour. Our guide was born and raised in Savannah, very warm and personable, easy to understand, and gave us a great history of the US and Savannah. Headsets were available but I could hear easily due to our small group.
