Hello! The tour was spectacular and the agency was top-notch with the organization. We started the day very early at Christ the Redeemer, going up on the train. The early wake-up call was well worth it because we avoided all the crowds and the gigantic lines, since the guide had the tickets ready. The view from the top is indescribable, it gives you goosebumps. Afterward, we went straight to Sugarloaf Mountain. I confess that it's a little dizzying to go up in that glass cable car, but the scenery of Guanabara Bay from the summit makes up for everything. In the afternoon, we moved toward the Centro. We passed by the Metropolitan Cathedral—which looks like a weird concrete pyramid from the outside, but is incredible on the inside with those giant stained-glass windows—and we finished at the Selarón Steps. The vibe of the staircase is great, an explosion of colors with tiles from all over the world. The tour van was impeccable and with the air conditioning on full blast, which saved us from the Rio heat. Also, the guide was a genius: super punctual, very cool, and knew the history of every corner. The good: The agency's logistics were perfect, we didn't waste time in lines, and the guide was a ten. The average: The places are ultra-touristy. The top of Christ the Redeemer fills up in a second and the base of the staircase is a chaos of people trying to take the same photo. The bad: The price of water and food up at Christ the Redeemer and at Sugarloaf Mountain is highway robbery. You also have to keep a sharp eye on your cell phone and wallet in the Centro area. Friendly tips: Bring your own water bottle and something to snack on in your backpack if you don't want to spend a fortune up there. At the Selarón Steps, don't just stay at the bottom; climb the steps to the end because there are far fewer people and you can take much better photos.
