Discover Jasper and its Wildlife

Picked us, in a group of travelers, at early morning train coming in to Jasper. Given a gap of several hours before hotel check in, gave a three hour (not like Gilligan) tour of the Jasper area. Very knowledgeable, providing a lot of information that only a local would know. Nice to have that perspective in addition to the long range and historical context. A couple of stops for leg stretch and pictures. Pleasant and comfortable bus.

We saw lots of elk, a bald eagle and a bear (albeit from quite far away). Although not the most successful in terms of wildlife spotting, our guide Steve was fantastic and incredibly knowledgable. We learnt lots about not only the wildlife but also the surrounding area including the impact of the wildfire. Still incredibly enjoyable- would highly recommend.

This was not a wildlife tour at all. The tour guide is also the driver and she drives at highway speeds waiting for one of the passengers to sight an animal and then circles back sometimes taking 15 minutes and the animal is gone. Where large groups of cars are on the road, she got the bus right in there so we could get close up views of elk. We did not see anything else. She told stories the entire time she was driving and a fact chack at some of the crazier ones showed they weren't even true. So not even informative because we didn't know what to believe. She never talked about the fire. She parked in a parking lot during prime dusk hours for at least 45 minutes and sent part of the group on a hike up the mountain while she pulled out skulls and antlers from the bus so everyone that stayed behind on the hike had a presentation to watch. Not as advertised at all.

Buyer beware this ‘wildlife’ tour. If you’ve hired a car in Canada you don’t need this tour! It is basically 3.5 hours being driven up & down the highway where you are required to look out for any potential wildlife. We had mistakenly assumed the driver would know some hotspots but this was not really the case. Our guide was a delight and had some great stories, but this a wildlife tour does not make! Full disclosure we saw 3 elk and an osprey (through binoculars) and that was all. 4 hours later we felt it wasn’t the best use of an evening in Jasper.

This tour was included as part of our trip. We got to see some lovely lakes on this tour as well as some elk and female moose. The guide was very enthusiastic but he talked almost non stop for the whole trip, which was exhausting.

We did an evening tour with Ross who was a fun guide & went out his way to find the wildlife. We were lucky to see a herd of Elks & a mother bear with her two babies. Ross was as excited as we were. He drove us all over the place & have some great photos.

Great adventure saw Moose which was great for us had baby too and a big male walked right out in front. Very knowledgeable guild. Also got to see ospreys

Amazing experience, our guide Wynn was knowledgeable and helpful. We were lucky enough to see some grizzly bears and snd a few elk. Would highly recommend.

We were very satisfied. Noah's tour was very entertaining and informative. We got the impression that he really knows his stuff, and we were very successful—we saw lots of animals. We had a great time.

Tour is disappointing. The guide spoke poor English, the few animals he showed us were pointed out to him by us participants, and quickly at that. The guide wasted time showing us the town center and the surroundings, complete with photos. The last 10 minutes he took various animal horns out of the minibus to show us, but 500 meters away there was a bear that obviously we weren't able to see. The animals you see on your own, you see better and you see more of them.
