Please make sure you are at the right meeting point. We meet at Batthyanyi ter metro exit. Our fully licensed local ( born and bred Budapester) tour guide will meet you at the metro exit in the park and will introduce the itinerary of Budapest Castle District tour, one of the most historically significant landmarks in the city. Buda Castle District is made up of the Royal Palace, Matthias Church, Fisherman's Bastion, Maria Magdalena Church Tower and other important buildings, urban public art mini monuments, look out terraces and an underground cave system.
Exterior visit only; admission is not included. Learn about the 800 years of history of the area that was the scene of several wars and occupations with the in-depth commentary of your guide. Learn about the German, Jewish and Hungarian populations everyday life in the district. We do not enter the church.

An interesting & entertaining walk. Boulash, the guide was very knowledgeable, giving us a good history lesson on the area. Being on Buda side, there were a fair few steps, but not a problem at all; worth the effort.

Great guide Andre, showed us around the castle district and explained the history and stories behind the beautiful buildings. Very clear English speaking and welcomed questions from the group. Nice size group and Andre lead us up to the castle in an easy manor, along a path which wasn’t too steep and he paused for breaks along the way explaining the different areas as we went. Really recommend this tour along with others that the same company provide. Whilst it’s a free tour, it’s based on tips and our guide and experience was worth 15 to 20 euros each as we had a lovely morning. Definitely one to do whilst in Budapest!

Very little historic information. Just high level overviews. Meeting point causes unnecessary walking uphill rather than being able to take bus or car to the top makes for wasted time

Our Buda Castle Tour is designed as an introduction to the history of the Castle District, so we understand that the amount of historical detail may feel different from one guest to another. Regarding the meeting point, the uphill walk and stairs are clearly mentioned in the tour description before booking. We intentionally begin at the foot of Castle Hill because we believe that the beautiful Víziváros (Water Town) and St. Anne’s Church are also important parts of Budapest’s history and deserve to be introduced to our guests. The walk up the hill is therefore an integral part of the tour rather than simply a way of reaching the Castle District.

If you don't want to be harassed with the tour guide go with a different company. Victoria Howard has been texting me days after our tour that we went with the wrong tour guide. I followed the directions that was provided by TripAdvisor but according to Victoria it was the wrong guide. First, she texted me to meet her on Saturday, our tour was booked for Sunday, I found that odd to begin with. Anyway, we took the tour with Krisztina and Andrew and they were wonderful!
