On our Secret Food Tour Bologna: we'll provide you with an unforgettable taste experience. We'll start with a traditional Raviola with Mostarda alla Bolognese. Then, we'll visit one of the oldest Salumeria of the city to learn more about the local meat products and the famous pastas. You'll enjoy: Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma, Mortadella di Bologna and many more regional cold cuts in the oldest Osteria in the world with a glass of our local wine. Next we have planned a taste of handmade pasta made just for us at a local Trattoria, always with a glass of local wine (and a coffee, if you like it) Then we will visit the main local food market, called Quadrilatero, and we'll enjoy a tasting of different types of balsamic vinegar from Modena to discover how this amazing tradition is still deeply rooted in this region. Please note that we are not able to offer any gluten-free or vegan option yet. This tour is also not wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Welcome to the commencement of our culinary odyssey at Palazzo della Mercanzia. Our guide will initiate proceedings with introductions, setting the stage for an invigorating exploration of Bologna's dynamic culinary scene. The construction of the palace traces its origins back to the 14th century, and it historically served as the epicenter for the city's economic and commercial activities. A notable feature of Palazzo della Mercanzia is the imposing wooden statue of San Petronio, the patron saint of Bologna, proudly displayed on the facade.
A captivating and historic neighborhood nestled in the heart of Bologna, Italy, also known as the "Quadrilatero Romano," is celebrated for its medieval streets, and a plethora of culinary delights. The moniker "Quadrilatero" alludes to the district's rectangular street layout. We had an exceptional tour last July with Clara and we want to return to Bologna because she showed us such interesting places that we didn't have time to go back to because we were leaving the next day. She explained all the most important gastronomy of Bologna to us and we tasted the most authentic cheese, wine, and charcuterie of Bologna. She knows her history like the back of her hand, is very passionate, and all that in 3 languages! Thank you Clara for this exceptional experience and sorry for my short delay for this review. They give lots of food variety and options for anyone with food restrictions. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We went to multiple restaurants and markets and had some history included in the tour!

We chose the 3 hour group tour. Gabriele did an excellent job ushering us around the Quadrilatero and weaving in out of various shops to collect all the food. We tried a few pastries along the way and also had a balsamic vinegar tasting at Gilberto. We sampled many meats and cheeses from various shops while seated at the Osteria del Sole. Then pasta - tagliatelle al ragu and tortellini - at Trattoria del Rosso. Ended with gelato from Cremeria la Vecchia Stalla. My only recommendation is to start the tour hungry - you will definitely be full by the end!

We did this tour as a couple and it was excellent. Our tour guide, Claire, was very knowledgeable, friendly and engaging, and made the experience really enjoyable.
