Itinerary
We’ll start this incredible journey with an early pick up (around 7:00am) in Bologna with our private minivan or minibus to head to the countryside between Modena and Bologna. Why so early? Parmigiano Reggiano doesn’t wait! It’s made only in the early morning and we want you to get in action ASAP! We will see the cheesemakers taking care of all the production steps right before your eyes. You can touch the creamy curd, taste the cooked cheese and get absolutely stunned by the warehouse, where thousands of wheels all around you wait at least 12 months to be “baptized” as Parmigiano Reggiano. Time to taste it, what’d you expect? Young or aged, creamy or crunchy, delicate or intense: you can decide which of the 2 different-age samples is your favorite… or just love them both!
Third and last excellence to meet: meat (pun intended)! Prosciutto Factory Montevecchio’s products will conquer your palate with its fragrant smell, buttery texture and delicate savoriness. We’ll learn about the strict regulations, the long curing process, and the tremendous care necessary to transform only 2 ingredients into a typical product with unique characteristics. We’ll taste its wholesomeness and genuineness with other local charcuteries and a glass of Lambrusco, before a proper lunch is served!
Another gem of Emilia Romagna is waiting to be discovered: Traditional Balsamic vinegar of Modena. After our “breakfast of champions” with local salame, mortadella, homemade bread, cake, Lambrusco wine and coffee, we’ll lead you into a magical world of smells, flavors, patience, and family tradition you’ve never experienced before! In the aging room, surrounded by many peaceful barrels, the secrets of this complex, unique and fascinating product will be unveiled.

This was the best tour I have ever been on. Elena was the most amazing guide. So knowledgeable, passionate and personable. Truly the best experience ever.
Excellent in every way! Visited 3 places over the day. Our guide, Julia, was the best. She was very knowledgeable of each stop and made the entire day so fun. The group was a good size, not too big which I think helped too. The pickup and drop off location was in the main piazza so easy for everyone to get to. It seems pricey, but is worth every penny. You won’t regret it.
Great tour and guide, very well organized! Meals were phenomenal. Not touristy!
A perfect day! Read all the reviews. Everybody loves this tour. Learn about parmigiana cheese, balsamic vinegar & prosciutto. Plus breakfast & a lunchtime feast. So much fun. So much food.
This was a fun and interesting day. Any foodie will love seeing the factories and hearing about the process. I was surprised by the amount of food we were served! Two meals, although the first one was considered more of a tasting, followed by a full lunch coming about an hour later, and both were PLENTIFUL! Food and drinks galore! The tour guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely hospitable. We were well looked after and well provided for. I recommend this tour.
Tour itself was great - seeing the parmigiano, balsamic & prosciutto factories, learning every step of production was amazing. Our guide was so informative. This tour could have ended 1.5-2 hours earlier though… the lunch served was wonderful if not a bit long. But after lunch, there was zero movement to start the drive back to Bologna. We were just “hanging” in the restaurant while the staff dj’d poured drinks, sang, served espresso. All sound wonderful, but when your tour starts at 7am, when you’re just stuck in a restaurant waiting to be driven home for 1.5 hours and having to ask when we get to go - it’s tiring. Also, no AC in the tour bus - in 37 degrees weather that was stifling. Overall a very good tour - I’d just suggest to the tour company to let ppl get back to their holiday in Bologna rather than holding on to them for so long extra.
Great learning experience if you want to explore the food industry and how many loved products (parmigiano, prosciutto and balsamic vinegar) are produced the traditional way. You will learn a lot from the guide throughout the tour and end it with a beautiful lunch. I would come again for the lasagna! Serena and the team were super helpful
We had Roberta driving and supporting and Julia giving information. They were an amazing pair, Julia was knowledgeable and had great energy, we loved seeing the Parmeggiano being made, the balsamic and prosciutto. The breakfast and lunch were delicious and well surpassed our expectations plus all the different wines. We had a wonderful day trip and highly recommend this tour and thank Julia and Roberta for the fun, their enthusiasm and interesting information.
It was a lovely day for our whole family. We liked all 3 factories and the provided food was great and enough as well. Our guide, the whole atmosphere of the tour and the organizer team was great!!!
Great tour. Was the perfect way to send a day near Bologna. Loved the stops and the lunch, lots of food and wine.
