Enjoy complimentary transport from your Healy hotel to Black Diamond Resort Co, where you’ll embark on a family-friendly backcountry treasure hunt. After a short safety briefing, you'll hop aboard your own Polaris Ranger, outfitted with seat belts, a windshield and cover. It’s similar to a small open-air Jeep but sports the exciting flair of an ATV. Then, head out into the wilds of Alaska with your professional guide. Navigate the back country trails, searching for hidden secrets, granite rocks, and additional clues that bring you closer and closer to finding your treasure: a rustic pavilion in the woods where a camp-style meal awaits. Traverse old mining paths that spill out onto the Dry Creek River Bed, stop on a whim to take in the surrounding scenery, or walk along the tundra and travel up the side of Black Diamond Peak for spectacular views of the Healy Valley — all the while working together to strategize and plan your next moves.
Your guide also fills you in on local history, culture, flora, and fauna throughout. Soon, it’s time to reap the benefits of your treasure hunt: a delicious and hearty meal. Morning tours include a lumberjack breakfast with fresh-baked biscuits and gravy, reindeer sausage, flapjacks and more, while afternoon and evening tours feature mouthwatering ribs, steak, chicken and even fresh-caught Alaska salmon. This excursion was fantastic! Our guide, John, is a skilled driver with a lot of local knowledge. He showed us incomparable views. His eagle eyes pointed out a porcupine, the first either Bob or I had seen in the wild. He also found me a “wishing stone” in Dry Creek while we admired the huge moraine that is still shifting. We learned a lot and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Oh! Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Highly recommend!!
What a great experience! Ross was our driver and guide. He showed us a wild time. It rained on us the whole time, but it did not put a damper on the fun. I think Ross hit every puddle out there, and it was a blast! He was a great driver, we had great food, and we got to see a mama moose and her baby. And we found treasure! 😄 Loved every minute of it!
We enjoyed our ATV tour ‘treasure hunt’ with Caleb! The paths are rough so be prepared, but not so much to make it uncomfortable. The only wildlife we saw was 1 grouse, but with ATV’s running around that is to be expected. Lunch was amazing! Served family style and lots of variety and very tasty options!! The kitchen staff was very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them also. Caleb showed us many sights, was a safe and entertaining guide, found the ‘treasure chest’ and we wish him the best wherever the wind blows for his next chapter.
David was a terrific guide/driver. The ride was fun and he shared knowledge of the area and landscape. We had the best time with him. Highly recommend this tour

Gunther was a great ATV tour guide. We saw some amazing sites. He was very knowledgeable of the area and he really enjoys what he does. We felt save and had lots of fun bumping along through the mountainside and the tundra landscape.
The experience was outstanding! We chose the Treasure hunt. Gunther and Caleb got my 2 grandsons invested in the experience. The joy and happiness they recieved was amazing. The dining, in quality, quantity and service was perfect. As my grandson said to Gunther and Caleb "Best Day Ever!!} Thanks for the experience.

Danny, Nico & Chris (?) were so fun as guides and our group had a blast! Lots of unexpected surprises and age appropriate for everyone. Would definitely recommend!
We had an absolute blast with our guide Kris!! He was so knowledgeable about Alaska's gold mining history, the wildlife, trees and foliage. Kris showed us so much of Alaska's hidden beauty throughout the many trails. We saw stunning rocks at the dry creek, moose and wolf tracks near the treasure box. This was the most engaging adventure we have been on in our 11 days in Alaska. And the food was delicious!! My girls can not wait to do this again on our next trip to Alaska.
