Wonderful multi-day hike with a great team

I had a great experience with Vidal Expeditions. From the beginning, I was well looked after and informed about the hike. Our trip was also well managed by the team during the journey. I would especially like to praise Urbano and the team, as they reacted perfectly to the altitude sickness of two group members and flexibly organized the further hike and departure of the sick members. I had some very nice days with Urbano on the Ausangate Circuit with beautiful mountain landscapes. One of the highlights was certainly the food, because no matter where, Angelo and the other helpers always conjured up incredibly delicious meals. A very warm recommendation for Vidal Expeditions and the whole team!

An Incredible Trek with amazing team.

The 5-day trek was challenging but incredibly rewarding. The entire team that supported me was absolutely fantastic. Our guide, Chino, had an excellent sense of when I needed a short break, when I was ready to pick up the pace, or when it was better to slow down. He also shared so much interesting information about the mountains, the local culture, and the surrounding area, making the experience even more special. The whole team was always smiling, incredibly kind, and happy to help whenever needed. They truly went above and beyond to make this an unforgettable adventure. I even managed to convince Chino to join me for a TikTok dance, which made the trip even more memorable!

Ausangate trek 5 days!!

We (my boyfriend and I) did the 5 day Ausangate trek, including a visit to the Rainbow Mountain on the third day. Our guide, Urbano, was experienced and could explain a lot about the nature, mountains and climbing routes along the way. He also paid close attention to everyone's acclimatization and gave the group many helpful tips on dealing with the altitude. Although there were differences in hiking pace within the group, Urbano managed the group exceptionally well, making sure everyone stayed together without the faster hikers feeling held back or the slower hikers feeling rushed. There were options to walk to some extra viewpoints after arriving at the camp as well. In this trip, you go together with a cook and some other people with horses. The cook was a really happy person and made delicious food for us. Together with the local people with the horses, they walked with us and had a lot of fun together. That was nice to see and made us happy as well. The landscape is really nice here. When we did the tour, there were not many other groups so there are moments you have the nature for yourself. Because we woke up at 3 pm on the third day, we arrived ad the rainbow mountain before the crowds and were the only group there. By the time all the quads and day hikers arrived, we already left on our way to the next place to put op the tents. For people considering this hike: make sure you are well acclimatized because this hike is mostly above 4500 meters.

Top experience:)

We had a great experience on our 5-day Ausangate trek and would definitely recommend this company. William was an excellent guide. Not only did he lead us through the trek, but he also shared so much interesting information about Peru, its history, culture, and especially the Cusco region. You could really tell how knowledgeable and passionate he is. He was always friendly, helpful, and made sure everyone was comfortable, adapting to the group's pace when needed. Beni, our cook, was amazing. The food was honestly much better than we expected for a mountain trek. Every meal was different, delicious, and prepared with a lot of care. We were always looking forward to mealtimes! Ángel was also fantastic. He was always quick to set up the tents and get everything ready for the group. He worked incredibly hard and was always attentive and willing to help. Overall, the whole team made the experience really enjoyable. Everything was well organized, we felt well looked after throughout the trek, and the atmosphere was great from start to finish. Thanks to William, Beni, and Ángel for making it such a memorable trip!

An amazing 5 days hiking around Ausangate. It was a tough trek but worth it for the amazing views and experience. We were taken super good care of by our fantastic guide Urbano and our chef and horsemen. 10/10 would recommend and hope to do it again!

Tough but incredibly fun trek with the most amazing guide, Urbano!

Me and three of my friends (all 21/22 yr old girls) completed the 2 day/1 night ausangate trek this past week. It was just the 4 of us and we didnt really see many others on the hike besides in a few veiwpoints. It was absolutely amazing. We are all athletes and were definitely humbled. It was a tough hike and altitude sickness is no joke. Definitely take the time to acclimatize all the way. Our guide, Urbano, made the atmosphere comforting from the start. Through the sickness and struggle of the hike, he always made us feel like we were going to be okay. He was constantly checking in on our symptoms and adjusted the pace and trail if needed. His energy made the trek even more fun, whether just joking around or singing songs to us when it was tough. Urbanos' passion showed through as he told us all about the mountains and the hikes in the Andes, and even hikes he had completed or wishes to complete in other countries. He was great at explaining Inca Peru's history, and he had answers for every single random question our group had. The admission fee is definitely worth it! The meals were also delicious !!!

Do not miss this trek!

I could not recommend this trek enough! The views were stunning throughout, the route was well planned, and it was not too crowded. Our guide, Urbano, was so knowledgeable and so friendly! He ensured everyone was comfortable even at the very high altitudes and inspired a lot of confidence. We also had William, a guide-in- training who led us along the way and was loved by the whole group. The food was amazing, I have never eaten so well when camping - thank you Chef Jorge! Mario and Angel were incredible as well, setting up our tents, cleaning up the camp and running ahead on the route to help make us lunch every day. Amazing value for the price and an awesome company that is supporting the local communities in which it operates. 12/10!!!

Despite temperamental weather patterns had such an excellent trip with Vidal. The team were all very accommodating. Hats off to the chef who made the best food! Even a cake on the last day! the trek is beautiful and despite some early morning wake ups it was well worth it.

Stunning Views and 5-Star Service at Apu Ausangate, Andes

I recently completed the 5-day Ausangate Trek with Vidal Expeditions, and it was an experience I will never forget. It was a true test of spirit, supported by a hardworking team. The Highlights: • I cannot praise Chef Beni enough. He fed us lavishly by preparing fancy meals like pizza, pasta, fresh salads, and even a celebratory cake on the last day while in the middle of a remote wilderness. Every meal was a highlight. • Our team was guide Urbano, chef Beni, and helpers Marlo and Angel , all were incredibly friendly and professional. The logistics were seamless, with great communication during our prehike briefing and a prompt hotel pickup in Cusco. • Urbano was very knowledgeable and experienced. He kept sharing the history and culture of the region and captured photos of us. While the trip was spectacular, there were a few challenges that future trekkers might want to keep in mind: • I was the slowest in my group of 3 and while I appreciated Urbano’s patience, there was some pressure to use the horse on uphill sections to stay on schedule on a longer day. Since there weren't specific pace requirements or "cutoff times" discussed prior to the trip, I found it difficult to balance my personal goal of hiking the full trail with the guide's need to move quickly. I would have appreciated a clearer discussion on timing expectations before the trek began. • Another thing to note is that the link to the professional photos taken by the guide is only shared after a review is published. It will be nice to have those memories shared regardless of the review process. :) Overall- This trip was a physically demanding but deeply rewarding journey through some of the most beautiful terrain I have ever seen. Despite the bad weather, the trip was a success. Thank you to Vidal Expeditions for a safe and memorable journey! Gear Tip: Have 2 sets of Trail Hiking Shoes - 1 breathable , the other waterproof. My breathable trail runners were great for drying, but tough during the heavy hail and deep puddles.
