A unique viewpoint. From the top of the panoramic terrace, your eyes sweep over the whole of Paris. The revisited Antiquity. Architect Jean-François Chalgrin was inspired by the Roman Arch of Titus in a single arch, but went beyond it by exceptional dimensions (about 50 m high, 45 m long and 22 m wide) and abandoning columns. A key place of major national events. Wanted by Napoleon in 1806, the Arc de Triomphe was inaugurated in 1836 by French king, Louis-Philippe, who dedicated it to the armies of the Revolution and the Empire. The Unknown Soldier was buried at the base of the arch in 1921. The flame of remembrance is rekindled every day at 18:30.

Overall, a great experience. Fantastic panoramic views of the city, exactly as described. We arrived early and were able to use our reserved entry tickets nearly 2hours before the allotted time. I’m glad we did too because when leaving at our original entry time (12 midday) the queue to get in was horrendously long. Booking with Tripadvisor worked out a little more expensive as we booked for 2 adults & 2 children totalling ~ £70, had we paid on the gate the cost would’ve been €22 for each adult with free entry for the children. If booking again, I’d go direct to the Arc de Triomphe website for peace of mind to have the reserved entry or would turn up before midday when it gets busy and pay on the gate.
The Arc de Triomphe is a must see…..this was not a guided tour, which was OK. we could not find a tour package for just the Arc..,,so we added a Seine tour, before realizing the meeting points were over a mile apart. We were exhausted after climbing to the top of the Arc, so we skipped the second part of the tour.
It is a shame that the elevator is marked as out of order!!!! While the staff uses it!!! You have to climb 15 floors in a spiral with horrible heat!!!
Very disappointed to find the lift out of order. 300 odd steps for an older person not very good idea. Expensive exercise.
Great tour that we really enjoyed. Was a great experience and very enjoyable. Would highly recommend.
Wonderful guide and beautiful day, went at 5:00 and area was quite busy
The while experience was amazing.
My ticket did not work. I had to pay a second time.
The day that I booked was one of the hottest days in Paris. When I arrived, saw that the elevator to the top was out of order so only the stairs were available. The stairs were a spiral staircase and by the time I got to the first resting point, I was so dizzy and felt sick. I did not continue to the top, which was unfortunate because that was what I had paid for. When I went down the spiral staircase, I was even dizzier and wound up needing paramedic assistance because of my elevated heart rate, dehydration, and dizziness. If possible, I would love a refund for my ticket. Viator should work closely with the Arc de Triomphe and make it known whether only the stairs or elevator will be accessible at the time people want to tour. This was a waste of my money because I could not enjoy it.
I ordered the timeslot of 2:50 PM and received the ticket. It was from 11 AM to 11 PM with my time slot reserved. We got there about an hour early. They let us in and we walked right to the top. We didn’t have to wait for our assigned time so it worked out perfect
