Amazing experience! Angie was a great guide.
My wife and I booked the Acatenango Volcano overnight hike with comfort glamping and also booked two horses to escort each of us up Acatenango so we could have the energy to do the Fuego hike that evening. We initially booked the 4x4 trek but due to local municipality issues we had to switch to horses which ended up being a far more fun experience as we got to enjoy the stunning trail. Trek Guatemala reached out well before to inform of us of changes. Trek Guatemala was very professional, it was nice to meet with them the afternoon before to go over things. Everyone was friendly and approachable and they were easy to contact via whatsapp. Taking the horses was fantastic and the guys who took us up made it in 3 hours than the usual 6-7 hours it takes the average visitor. The campsite was set up well and was just as described, food, amenties and all. But by far the best part of the Trek Guatemala experience was our guide, Rodri. He's an impressive athlete who was knowledgeable, personable, patient and fully supportive throughout, especially when we struggled a bit through the rain on the way back from Fuego. Being outdoors is second nature to him and it shows.
Was so amazing. Was not a busy tour which made the experience more personable. Our guide Rolo was 10/10, great energy and support. The hike was super challenging. Was super cold the weather changed a lot during the hike. I would carry less water to start. There are stops along the way you can buy more at.
Great experience! One of our friends got sick the night before the hike and they were very thoughtful and rescheduled the hike for him. The guide we had, Alejandro, was a great guide to have and provided a great experience. For someone who want a more private experience instead of the big tours with 30+ people (we had a group of 5 including the guide), this is the best! They care about sustainable tourism.
Excellent guide, he gave us tips on how to position our posture and stick grip. The cabins have a more privileged view than other agencies. It includes hot food. Friendly service.
Very cool experience, but very hard to hike. But I’m 60 years old and I made it, slowly. Andres and Rolo were the best! They were both patient and supportive and never rushed me to hike faster. The views were amazing and Fuego erupted every 5-15 minutes all night. It was cold and windy at the top so follow all the layering instructions. The cabins were cold but got you out of the wind. With layers of clothing, I slept well.
Everything was perfect and Alex was the best guide!
1000/10 stars! Everything was seamless and amazing from the pre briefing to the ride home. Angie was our guide and was AMAZING! She not only was a great time but she was very attentive to everyone in our group. The dinner Andre made us was so cozy and was the perfect dish after a long day. The whole trip from start to finish exceeded our expectations- and we made life long friends along the way. Highly recommend booking with Trek and if you get Angie your trip will be even better!
Our tour with Trek Guatemala was incredible. We got to see the eruptions of Volcán de Fuego, which were magnificent. We chose the tour with the 4x4 ride, so we only had to hike for about an hour. You also have the option to hike closer to the volcano, but we decided to stay at the base camp, which still had amazing views. After enjoying the views of Fuego, there is another hike to watch the sunrise. Diego was our tour guide, and he was incredible, friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about volcanoes and the history of Guatemala. We would love to go back because it was such an unforgettable experience. They also provide meals, which were very good. Depending on your package, you can choose between a private or shared cabin. The beds were comfortable, and they provide sleeping bags that keep you very warm. Make sure to bring layers because it gets very cold at night when you are enjoying the views. We highly recommend Trek Guatemala if you want to experience the amazing volcano views in Guatemala.
Even before booking, sharing natural concerns, through the whole process of travel and my specific needs , the level of communication was so vital in making this experience so ideal. Even after we made it home I was checked up on with gratitude and kindness. , I cannot recommend enough using this outfit for an adventure . They are so well organized in proactive I really felt and was part of.The team. I am completely happy with our guide. Her professionalism, knowledge, ability to adapt to schedules, great attitude, relaxed down to earth demeanor . I was just so thoroughly impressed. If there’s an ability to request, I highly recommend Angie. More as a coordinator? There is no one better. I did the double summit adventure. I was fed well I was pushed out out of my comfort zone ( which is what I wanted to get out of this) but at the same time, it was very safe. I will be coming back and going on another adventure with this outfit guaranteed.
