Incredible experience. Highly recommended
What an incredible experience! Our guide, Maisie, picked us up at our hotel and made the entire experience seamless from beginning to end.
Maisie was incredibly well-spoken and fluent in English, and her knowledge of Shanghai’s Jewish history and cultural context was truly impressive. What made the experience especially memorable was how genuinely compassionate and engaged she was. As we shared some of our personal stories with her, she took them to heart—you could even see the tears forming in her eyes. That level of empathy made the tour feel so much more personal and meaningful.
Behind the scenes, Sunny, the tour operator, organized everything with the grace and efficiency of a well-run organization. Every detail was thoughtfully handled, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy the experience.

Visit to Jewish Refugee Musuem (Shanghai)
Lea is very knowledgable and friendly. She is also an excellent communicator with a great command of English. We left with wonderful memories of the role Shanghai played in saving the lives of 24,000 Jews during the Holocaust in Europe.

Informative, engaging, and moving private tour - highly recommend!
We took this tour with Lea on a very warm July afternoon and were completely delighted with it! Lea arrived on time at our hotel lobby to pick us up and took us to the other side of the river, to the Bund area, in a comfortable air-conditioned car. She was kind, friendly, and well-spoken, and her English was excellent. She shared lots of interesting information about the city and the role played in it by Jewish families in the early twentieth-century as well as the experiences of the Jewish refugees who began arriving in the late 1930s. We walked along the Bund, which is where the refugees arrived themselves, and visited the famous and beautiful Peace Museum built by the Sassoons, before taking another car to get to the fantastic Jewish Refugees Museum. Inside the museum, Lea continued to share her knowledge and also gave us plenty of time to view and read about the numerous items on display. This museum, with its detailed and amazing displays and its moving wall of names, was an incredibly moving experience. We then finished the tour by visiting the adjacent synagogue, apartment buildings where the refugees lived, and the park where the children played. After over 2.5 hours, our tour concluded in the park and Lea gave us advice on where to have a cool drink before we headed back to our hotel area. I thank Lea for giving us such an excellent tour, and I wish her all the best. This was also a great value for a private tour, and I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in Jewish and Chinese history and/or World War II.

Interesting morning with a Shanghai local
Robert was knowledgeable and generous with details about Shanghai that we wouldn’t have discovered were it not for having a truly local guide.

The Shanghai Jewish Story
Our guide Robert met us at our hotel on time. Robert spoke excellent English and took us by taxi to the Shanghai Jewish Refugee Museum. It’s quite unimpressive from the street but once you get inside and move from room to room it’s very impressive. Although Robert is a local Shanghai citizen he has a good understanding of the history of the Jewish community in Shanghai and it’s a very interesting story and really worthwhile. The tour finished with a visit to the Peace hotel which was originally the home of the Sassoon family in Shanghai

Fascinating Jewish Tour of Shanghai
This tour with Lea was exceptional. She was very interesting and well-informed, answered our many questions and didn't rush us. We toured the Refugee Museum and then walked around the neighborhood of the Jewish Ghetto in Shanghai. We went to several other locations in the Bund too.
Well worth the time and money. One of the highlights of our group's visit to China.
