Shanghai Private Tour: Zhujiajiao Water Town and Boat Ride

We had a wonderful family trip to Zhujiajiao with Kalvin as our tour guide. Kalvin is a Shanghai local and incredibly knowledgeable about the city. Even on the drive to Zhujiajiao, he pointed out iconic buildings and interesting areas along the way, sharing stories about Shanghai’s history, architecture, residential development, and everyday life. Whenever we had questions about a building, neighborhood, history, or even local housing prices, he always had an interesting and informative answer. We learned much more about Shanghai than we expected from a day trip to Zhujiajiao. Once we arrived, Kalvin customized the tour around our family’s needs. We were traveling with two young children, so our pace was slower and sometimes unpredictable. He was extremely patient, never rushed us, and made sure the itinerary was manageable and enjoyable for the kids. Our son had endless questions about everything he saw, and Kalvin patiently answered them all. We really appreciated how professional, attentive, and family-friendly he was throughout the day. Kalvin also shared a lot of interesting details about the garden and temple we visited, including Chinese symbolism, architectural features, and local history that we would never have noticed on our own. Lunch was another highlight. Kalvin took us to a local restaurant where we had delicious, authentic food with plenty of local character. It was one of those meals that made the experience feel much more special than simply visiting the tourist attractions. Our driver was also very professional and punctual. The ride was smooth, and we especially appreciated the thoughtful touches of having water and fans prepared for us on a hot summer day. Overall, we had a great experience. Kalvin’s knowledge, patience, and dedication made the trip both enjoyable and educational, especially for a family traveling with young children. We came away not only having enjoyed Zhujiajiao, but also with a much better understanding of Shanghai itself. We would definitely recommend Kalvin and this tour to other families visiting Shanghai.

The tour was amazing and a great place to visit even when it's so hot. My daughter also loved it from start to finish. Snow was a great tour guide throughout the visit with a wealth of knowledge, and she was also happy to go the extra mile to accomdste us with any requests or questions we had.

Queena was an amazing tour guide! We had such a good time with her visiting the water village. There was a typhoon so we had to reschedule our dates, but everybody was very accommodating and considerate. We really enjoyed our time. The water village was very beautiful and we loved riding the boat. We also learned a lot of history, thanks to Queena’s great explanations during the tour.

Due to flooding from Typhoon Dolphin, our tour guide recommended that we visit Tongli instead of Zhujiajiao. Our guide Kimi was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. Excellent day trip from Shanghai.

A fabulous day out to an ancient Chinese Watertown. Known as Black Town it was absolutely awesome to see. Not only the River and the Houses but all the old Chinese traditions too, we learnt so much. Our guide Kimi was so knowledgeable and informative, and wasnalso just a really nice guy. Had a wonderful driver too who picked us up and dropped us back to our hotel in his gorgeous BYD car.

We had an amazing time on the water tour! The views were absolutely stunning, and our tour guide, Kalvin, made the experience even more enjoyable with his knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a great time. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a memorable experience!

Our guide Tracy was very kind and informative. Having a good guide makes a huge difference in understanding the culture of the city that it makes your trip much more worthwhile and enjoyable. Also I would like to mention that although we were staying quite far from the city center, they kindly picked us up free of charge!

Our tour was very good. Our tour guide Snow was so lovely and very informative. She was so friendly, no question was to silly or to hard to answer. We not only learnt a lot about Water Town but about the Chinese culture as well. We tried many different foods which were all very nice. We even sat down in a little shop and got served different types of tea. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour.

Our guide Jenny made us feel very comfortable. We were two females traveling together with 3 teenager boys between us. She made sure to include activities for all our interests. Jenny is not only kind and patient but she is also very knowledgeable.

Great day with Snow who was knowledgeable and service oriented. Enjoyed our day with young and old. Pre trip communications were also easy and hassle free. Really appreciate it.
