On the first day we did the sunset buggy ride tour and loved every second of it. Beyond the thrill of the ride, we got to discover a side of the monks that most people never get to see, exploring settlements that very few have had the chance to visit. Seeing the outskirts and abandoned monasteries were the highlights, and our guide Nick was so knowledgeable about the history of the region and gave us a real sense of what life is like in Kastraki. It was the perfect mix of adventure, discovery, and learning. Oh, and the bus ride there included a stop for an oceanfront lunch which was a wonderful bonus! We stayed at Doupiani House Hotel and couldn't have asked for more. The service was wonderful, breakfast was beautiful, and our room was perfect. The second day we visited three of the monasteries with our guide Venrick, who was fantastic. He answered every question we had, brought Greek culture to life in a way that really stayed with us, and even walked us to a lunch spot where everything tasted amazing. My husband and I both agreed, this trip exceeded every expectation. The entire Meteora staff made us feel so welcome. If you're considering this, stop thinking and just book it. You won't regret it.
