Description

The most popular tour through Zurich´s historic old town offers fascinating insights into the city´s colorful history. What do Einstein, James Joyce and Wagner have in common? All three were residents of Zurich. But it´s not only great minds who are captivated by this lakeside city with its well-preserved old town – people from all over the world have always flocked to the thriving metropolis. On a two-hour walk through the old town, we go searching for clues to the city´s past in its hidden alleyways and picturesque squares. Together, we uncover the secrets of Bahnhofstrasse, find out what a "procession axis" is, and visit a church with a minute-hand that jumps a record-breaking half meter every minute. This popular tour is filled with numerous astonishing and amusing anecdotes and has plenty to offer both visitors and locals alike.

Lackuster guide

The route itself was fine, but the guide had no personality. A good guide makes or breaks a tour, and this one was flat: she shared the facts and nothing more, with no stories and no spark. I'd hoped to have a guide with deeper local knowledge and stories to tell.

Need better audio for large group tour

Our group had about 20 people. Although the guide seemed very knowledgeable, about 50% of the time we could not hear her. She had a headset microphone and a very small speaker on her hip - there were no audio headsets for the guests. The guide suggested coming close to her to hear her, but with about 20 people, most people can’t be in front. And with the traffic, street noise, and other tours, it was ridiculously difficult to hear her at times. If one person standing right in front of her moved their position, the sound would get better. But seriously, if you are going to offer a large group tour, you should give audio headsets to each person so they can hear everything.

Excellent 2 hour walking tour of Zurich

Excellent walking tour of Zurich. Our guide Barbara was excellent. It was obvious that she was an experienced guide and is enthusiastic about Zurich. She was able to answer any questions that people asked. The 2 hour tour was the right length and the pace was fine too. Very interesting we saw and heard so much about Zurich.

The tour was OK but not great. Tour guide left out a lot of important sites in Zurich. Her English is not very good.
