Cool xunantunich and jungle tour but a bit poorly run

This tour is pretty good but we had a few issues (some small, some big) that make this review less than what it could have been. The good: 1) our main tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and entertaining. 2) Xunantunich was very cool and interesting. You can climb all the way 130ft up and it's the best view in town 3) the jungle and river are absolutely beautiful. We had a few waterfalls stops that you can get out amd swim and that experience was really cool 4) lunch served on board was very good. The not so good: 1) they forgot to pick us up initially so I had to reach out to them and then we got picked up about 40 mins late 2) the boat was a bit crowded and much more people than I expected. 3) the boat seemed a little run down with random benches and chairs brought in and some cracked boards. Lastly the bad: 1) they asked if we wanted to jump off from the top deck. A bunch of people did and we realized once in the water that to get back on the boat, you had to use this rope ladder with just 2 small ropes and with no place to hang onto at the top. So to pull yourself up on the boat, you had to use all of your upper body strength and hang on to the sharp metal boat beams on the side. Many people were struggling, even very strong men. I struggled as did my son as well, but my husband who is about 6'4" with size 13 feet. The 2 small ropes with no handles, coupled with some shoulder issues, he couldn't get back on the boat! The guides on the boat didn't seem to care, nor even try to help, even with me pleading for someone to help. Finally they had him swim to the side and they pulled the boat near the rocks so he could use the rocks to get back on the boat. All this time the several guides (maybe 5 of them) on board sat around and chuckled about it. One big guy was just laying in the hammock the whole time. That was NOT cool. You have to show some care and concern of the safety of your patrons. Maybe give a disclaimer before having ppl just jump in and maybe have a real working boat ladder with steps and a handle. That put a stain on what would have been an amazing day as the actual jungle, river, and waterfal swim spots were really quite great. The staff was overall nice, and our guide was great, but the lack of care when the incident happened was not cool and I would not book with them again because of that.

Best part of Belize trip

This was the best part of our whole trip to Belize! Giovanni was punctual and knowledgeable. He is also an amazing cook— our lunch on the pontoon was delicious! We enjoyed starting our day at the Mayan ruins before heading to the pontoons on the river. The whole day was more beautiful than we could have imagined! We enjoyed our time so much that we added on a sunset horseback ride with Roberto at their family’s property in the jungle. Wish we could relive this day again!!!

Fab excursion Xunantunich and pontoon river experience

We are a family of 3, our daughter is 11. Our guide in Xunantunich was Stephen. He was a brilliant and enthusiastic guide and made us really enjoy our visit. He also accompanied us to the pontoon experience and that one was the highlight of the day! We visited waterfalls, we swinged in the river from a tree…the food was cooked on the grill on the pontoon and was delicious. Thank you to the whole team for such a great day! Toby, Ila and Olivia

Good to go early in the day to avoid the crowds at xunantunich. The pontoon portion broadened our to climbing waterfalls and jumping off a cliff. We had a really GREAT day, thanks so much to Stephen.

Xunantunich and jungle...

Xunantunich and jungle pontoon was excellent, you’ll need good walking shoes for xunantunich. Wear your bathing suit underneath for the pontoon, you will get wet so choose a warm day.

A unique and can’t miss excursion!

An amazing and unique experience! Our day started with clear communication on where to meet and our guide, Giovanni Met us promptly at that time. He drove us out to Xunantunich and gave us a really nice tour of the area and took photos for us. He was also great at accommodating my dad, who had a hurt a foot. After our exploration completed, he grabbed some items for lunch and we were able to stock up on drinks for ourselves for the pontoon boat. A bit of a drive down a bumpy dirt road brought us the river and the amazing pontoon and met Giovanni‘a partner in crime. We got a beautiful tour of the river and were able to check out several waterfalls and beautiful pools. We were lucky enough to be there when the water was running so that we could climb Sandpaper Falls. Our guide was great at leading us up 5 levels of rock walled pools for a total of 150 ft. It was breathtaking! After the climbing we came back to lunch ready and waiting on the boat. It was delicious! The guys were great at taking care of us and making it a special experience!
