Fantastic!
We had such a wonderful experience horse riding! From the very beginning, Jose made us feel completely comfortable and welcome.
The horses were incredibly sweet, well-trained, and listened very well. You could clearly see that they are very well cared for — they looked healthy, clean, and well-groomed. It’s obvious that the team truly cares about the horses and treats them with love and respect.
Riding through the beautiful area along the river was absolutely stunning. Jose also shared fun and interesting facts about nature during the ride, which made it not only relaxing but also educational.
It was the perfect combination of adventure, beautiful scenery, and great company. We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable horse riding tour! 🐎🌿
Operator response
It is great to hear that the quiet beauty of the river and the gentle spirit of our horses made such a lasting impression on you.
Jose was will be touched by your kind words, as he takes pride in ensuring every guest feels like a welcomed friend from the very first moment they arrive at St. Leonard’s.
We believe that a horse’s well-being is reflected in their eyes and their steady steps, and knowing you could see the love and respect we have for our herd means the so much to us. There is something so restorative about sharing a peaceful trail and a few "nature secrets" with a soulful four-legged partner, especially in a place as beautiful as this. We are so grateful to have been part of your Belizean memories and hope to welcome you back to the riverbanks again very soon.

We ride at dawn!
Not all of us were convinced that we were horseback riders, but this was an incredible experience all around! Imagine riding horses through the jungles of Belize ( ok, some was on the road to the jungle, but we don't let facts get in the way of a good story, do we?), when off in the distance you can see a pyramid towering over the trees 4 km away! The jungle is full of flowers in full bloom, and the scents of citrus fruits and allspice. My horse was fond of the local grasses and stopped by his buffet often. Just a nudge from me was all that he needed to get going again. Our guides were very experienced, the horses were the best we have ever ridden (we aren't riders, but still...), the ruins were truly spectacular and way better than the photos, to top it all off with a swim by the waterfalls was just icing on the cake. I've used way too many superlatives here but I really was stunned by it all. This was the best all day tour: riding, loads of stairs, lunch was delicious and simple(chicken, rice with beans coleslaw and juice), very informative guides and even a terrific swim on a hot day. If you are fit and love to be active, it's worth it!

Thank you for such a vivid and enthusiastic review of your adventure with St. Leonard’s!
We love that even those who weren’t convinced they were horseback riders found the experience to be truly unforgettable.
Riding through the jungle with the breathtaking view of Xunantunich in the distance is a magical moment, and we’re glad you appreciated the beauty, scents, and even the occasional snack breaks from your horse!
Our guides take great pride in ensuring both riders and horses have a comfortable and enjoyable experience, and it’s fantastic to hear that you felt so well taken care of. The ruins of Xunantunich are indeed even more awe-inspiring in person, and we couldn’t agree more that finishing the day with a refreshing swim by the waterfalls is the perfect way to cool off. Thank you for joining us, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon!

Horseback Riding tour at rancho
Nice way to spend time in San Ignacio, even if you are not an experienced hourse rider.
Rancho is quite big(really big) and green, hourses were well trained, Carla picked us up from our hotel and brought us back after. Toby the horse was a very good boy, totally aware of the job he was doing, I mean - I was not even telling him much what to do:)
