Willowbank Wildlife Reserve
Arriving early is the best way to see the wildlife at its most active and to secure encounter feeding times throughout the day. Spoon-feeding eels and geese, plus catching a glimpse of a native kiwi, made my day. Stopping at the café for some delicious treats also gave me a chance to feed the deer up close. Highly recommend!

Not impressed
Sad to see Asians picking up ducklings and throwing them into ponds , I had a go at them they were arrogant, the staff didn't seem to care when I made a complaint, also school kids hitting the eels with the spoons while their teachers just watched

Fun afternoon
A great way to spend an afternoon! We had signed up for a capybara encounter, which was a highlight for my adult children (got to feed and pet them!). Looking for kiwis in the night facility was also a highlight. It was also so fun to walk around and see and interact with all the birds and other animals on the property.

ATTENTION booked direct USD makes it more expensive!
Great experience however I booked with bookme, was transfered to tripadvisor while paying and wasn't advised it was USD unhappy as it cost more than it should have.... Be Aware willowbank is great but book direct or it will be costly!

Fun Place to visit
good place to see new zealand animals and the reserve is well made that it doesn't feel completely like a zoo - good place to glimpse kiwis, and reserve divided in 3 sections - wildlife nz, heritage nz and natural nz Nice place to visit with young kids

Had a jam packed week in Christchurch. And this was the unanimous highlight. Will be returning. Would absolutely recommend to any animal lover.

This sanctuary was wonderful. No negatives. Just delightful.

Great place to visit
Visited on a long weekend. The carpark was full. Easy parking available on the street. Friendly staff. The park is a great place to visit and enjoy walking in nature. Plenty of animals and birds. The paths and tracks were easy to follow. Options to feed some animals. Playground area and picnic area. The cafe had lots of options and good service.

A Warm Place to Learn NZ Wildlifes
Everything was amazing. Everything in the reserve show great care from the manager and staffs to each animal. Good to see that.
