Our driver was also an amazing tour guide. She shared interesting information our entire trip and spotted a ton of wildlife for us to see. The bus was in great condition and going to the reserve gives an opportunity to see animals up close.
Our driver contacted us while we were on the ship in Whittier. He explained where he would meet us. He was very friendly and knowledgable and gave us good information. The conservation centre was worth the visit. Large grounds and lots of animals to see. We were dropped at our hotel in Anchorage as we were a small tour.

The Alaska Wildlife Reserve is an incredible stop on this transport from the Whittier Cruise Port to the Anchorage Airport. A chance to see Alaskan wildlife up close and yet in a very natural habitat. Our driver was wonderful, very informative about the area, its history, and the wildlife we might see in any given area.. His stories were both entertaining and informative.

I chose this as a cheap option to support a local business and take a fun stop rather than give more money to the cruise ships to just drive me directly to Anchorage. Our guide was so nice and knowledgeable (I feel like her name was Kaitlyn maybe). It is a small group - probably only like 8 of us. The Wildlife center was so cool! So many animals up close! Only stopped here an hour and wish we had a little more time but this tour also still gives you most of a full day to explore Anchorage! I'd do this again for sure.
With all the spectacular sights, the bus trip from Whittier to Anchorage is anti-climactic and, like most things in Alaska, overpriced. There are beautiful sights along the way. The Wildlife Conservatory hosts a relatively small number of animal types, such as MuskOxen, a couple Bears, a couple Arctic Foxes, and some Deer, all in open pens. Good to see but a minor attraction along the way.

This experience is a scenic transfer from Whittier to Anchorage with a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, and both the itinerary and pricing are provided prior to booking so guests can decide whether the tour is the right fit for them. The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is also not a traditional zoo focused on displaying a large variety of animals. It is a nonprofit sanctuary dedicated to caring for orphaned, injured, and otherwise vulnerable Alaska wildlife. The number and types of animals guests may see are therefore reflective of the animals currently in their care, rather than an intentionally stocked collection for entertainment. Alaska’s summer visitor season is short and highly seasonal, and transportation throughout the state can be more expensive than travelers may be accustomed to elsewhere. We understand that individual perceptions of value will vary, but we believe the experience and services included are represented accurately at the time of booking. We appreciate your feedback and are sorry this particular experience was not what you were hoping for.
