Itinerary

60 min

Chureito Pagoda, located in Arakurayama Sengen Park in Fujiyoshida City, offers one of Japan’s most iconic and breathtaking views—its striking red five-story pagoda perfectly framed by Mount Fuji in the background. Built in 1963 as a peace memorial, the pagoda is part of the historic Arakura Sengen Shrine complex and has become a global symbol of Japan’s natural and cultural beauty. Visitors reach the viewing spot by climbing 397 steps through a peaceful hillside path lined with cherry trees and lanterns. In spring, the scene is especially magical with blooming sakura, while autumn colors, winter snow, and summer greenery each provide their own stunning backdrop. More than just a photo opportunity, the site holds spiritual and historical significance, offering a serene atmosphere for reflection. Easily accessible from Tokyo, Chureito Pagoda is a must-visit destination for those seeking unforgettable views, cultural depth, and a truly unique Mount Fuji experience.

30 min

Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine founded in 705 AD and located halfway up Mount Arakura in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture. Dedicated to Princess Konohanasakuya-hime—the goddess of Mount Fuji and volcanoes—the shrine is traditionally visited to pray for disaster prevention, family happiness, and safe childbirth. While the main hall and its striking red torii gate offer a peaceful atmosphere for spiritual reflection, the grounds are world-famous for Arakurayama Sengen Park. Climbing nearly 400 stone steps from the shrine buildings leads to the iconic Chureito Pagoda, an observation deck that provides a quintessential, postcard-perfect panoramic view capturing the red five-story pagoda, a blanket of cherry blossoms or autumn foliage, and the majestic peak of Mount Fuji all in a single frame.

60 min

Lake Kawaguchiko is the most accessible and second-largest of the famous Fuji Five Lakes, situated at the northern base of Mount Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture. Celebrated for its stunning, mirror-like reflections of the iconic volcano across its calm waters, the lake serves as a premier year-round resort destination offering a wealth of hot spring towns, scenic hiking trails, and cultural museums. Its northern shore is particularly renowned for providing postcard-perfect vistas, where visitors gather seasonally to witness a dramatic framing of Mount Fuji amidst vibrant cherry blossoms in the spring or fiery red maples during the autumn foliage festival.

Admission not included60 min

Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba is a beautifully reconstructed open-air museum and cultural village located on the shores of Lake Saiko, one of the Fuji Five Lakes. Built on the site of a historic farming hamlet that was tragically destroyed by a landslide in 1966, the village features over twenty traditional thatched-roof houses (kabuto-zukuri) set against a striking backdrop of Mount Fuji. Today, these carefully restored structures serve as interactive workshops, galleries, and restaurants where visitors can explore traditional Japanese crafts, rent samurai armor or kimonos for photographs, and sample local delicacies like hoto noodles.

30 min

Optional: Lake Saiko is one of the scenic Fuji Five Lakes, located at the northern foot of Mount Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture. Formed by ancient volcanic eruptions that dammed local rivers, this relatively deep and quiet lake is surrounded by densely forested hills, including the northern edge of the historic Aokigahara Jukai Forest. While it is less developed for mass tourism than neighboring Lake Kawaguchiko, Saiko is a highly popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking peaceful campgrounds, trout fishing, and kayaking. The surrounding area also features unique geological formations open to visitors, such as the Saiko Bat Cave, the Fugaku Wind Cave, and the Narusawa Ice Cave.

Admission not included30 min

The Fugaku Wind Cave (Fugaku Fuketsu) is a historic, 201-meter-long lava tube located within the dense greenery of the Aokigahara Jukai Forest at the northern foot of Mount Fuji. Designated as a Japanese National Monument, this lateral-type cave maintains a remarkably stable average temperature of 3°C (37°F) year-round, which historically allowed local communities to use it as a natural refrigerator for storing silkworm eggs and seeds well into the 20th century. Unlike more claustrophobic pit caves, it features a relatively high ceiling and a gentle, family-friendly walking trail that takes about 15 minutes to complete. Inside, visitors can view striking geological formations like ropy lava shelves, unique light-reflecting moss, and natural icicles that remain frozen even during the height of summer.

Admission not included30 min

The Narusawa Ice Cave (Narusawa Hyoketsu) is a spectacular, 153-meter-long vertical pit cave located within the Aokigahara Jukai Forest near Lake Saiko. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption of Mount Fuji in 864 AD, this dynamic geological marvel maintains a freezing temperature between 0°C and 3°C (32°F to 37°F) year-round due to its unique layout and lack of sunlight. Unlike the neighboring horizontal Fugaku Wind Cave, the Narusawa Ice Cave features a steep, adventurous route with low ceilings and narrow steps that lead visitors deep underground to witness massive, glowing ice pillars, an ice-storage wall, and intricate frozen formations that naturally rebuild themselves every winter.

Admission not included60 min

The Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station (Fuji Subaru Line Gogōme) is a bustling high-altitude base located 2,305 meters (7,562 feet) above sea level on the northern slopes of Mount Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture. Accessible via the scenic 30-kilometer Fuji Subaru Line toll road, it serves as the highly popular trailhead for the Yoshida Route, drawing nearly triple the number of hikers compared to any other trail. Beyond being a critical preparation ground for summit climbers, this "above-the-clouds" station functions as a major standalone tourist destination complete with large observation decks, restaurants, souvenir shops, and the historic Komitake Shrine. Because it is heavily visited, private vehicles are banned from driving up the toll road during the peak summer climbing season, requiring tourists and hikers to utilize frequent shuttle bus services running directly from Kawaguchiko or Mt. Fuji stations.

30 min

Oshino Hakkai (literally "Eight Seas of Oshino") is a scenic set of eight crystal-clear spring ponds located in the small village of Oshino, nestled between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako. Formed on the dried bed of a prehistoric sixth lake, these sacred ponds are fed by Mount Fuji's snowmelt, which filters underground through porous layers of volcanic lava rock for decades before emerging as incredibly pure, mineral-rich water. Designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site component in 2013, the area served historically as a purification pilgrimage site for worshippers ascending Mount Fuji. Today, it functions as a picturesque open-air attraction featuring traditional thatched-roof farmhouses, wooden waterwheels, and bridges that frame stunning, mirror-like reflections of the volcano over deep pools teeming with large fish.

Admission not included30 min

The Hannoki Bayashi Shiryokan (Hannoki Forest Folklore Museum) is a charming open-air museum and the only paid attraction within Oshino Hakkai, encompassing the village's largest, oldest, and most pristine spring pond, Sokohashi-ike. Centered around a meticulously preserved, multi-story thatched-roof farmhouse (minka), the museum interior showcases a rich collection of historic farming tools, ancient samurai armor, authentic weapons, and traditional household items from the Edo period. Visitors can climb to the upper floors of the farmhouse for an elevated view of the architecture, stroll through peaceful gardens featuring traditional waterwheels, and access an elevated observation deck that offers a panoramic, unobstructed view of Mount Fuji towering over the village.

Admission not included60 min

optional Stop: Fuji Yurari Hot Spring (Fuji Yurari Onsen) is a popular, modern day-use hot spring resort located near Lake Kawaguchiko in Narusawa Village, renowned for its spectacular, unobstructed views of Mount Fuji. The facility features 16 different types of baths, including its signature open-air baths (rotenburo) where guests can soak in mineral-rich, natural spring water drawn from 1,000 meters underground while looking directly at the volcano. Designed to offer a comprehensive relaxation experience, the complex includes uniquely themed indoor options like carbonated baths, cave baths, and steam rooms, alongside private rental baths for families, a relaxation spa, and a traditional restaurant where meals are funly delivered to private booths via a miniature capsule conveyor system.

Kind and Helpful

Tahseen picked us up from the hotel at 7am suggesting we start earlier. Keep in mind travel back and forth is about 2-2.5 hours each way because of traffic (we were picked up in Shinjuku). Tahseen was extremely kind and helpful with my dad who uses a cane to walk around. He would walk with him even when my Dad lagged behind and would tell us to go ahead. My parents also appreciated having a Hindi speaking driver. We did 4 activities and stopped for lunch which took the full day. I do not think it is possible to do all of the activities so do your research beforehand on what you want to fit it. Finally, we also went to a great lunch spot, Ganjisugawa Fujiyoshida ガンジス川 河口湖店, which has multiple vegetarian options.

Great driving tour. Highly recommended.

Our driver, Tahseen, reached out to us the day before to confirm the hotel’s location and pick-up time. We adjusted the time to 7 AM to avoid traffic, and he picked us up exactly on time. Since we had five people, he provided us with a comfortable van. He spoke Hindi as requested and was incredibly helpful, polite, and kind. He recommended vegetarian places for us to eat and took us to a lovely breakfast/food road stop on our way to the Mount Fuji area. Despite being a less visible day, we had a great time overall. We didn’t feel rushed and were able to choose the spots we wanted to visit and how much time to spend there. We ended up skipping most of the recommended spots, but still had a pretty full day. My favorite spots were the ice and wind caves. The Wind Cave was quite quick, but the Ice Cave took a little longer due to the slow-moving line. We decided to return around 5 PM and did encounter some traffic on our way back to the hotel. Overall, this was an excellent way to spend our day, and the tour company was a great choice. Of note, this is a transportation tour and does not include an actual tour guide. It’s up to you to do your own research at each stop, although you will receive recommendations and suggestions from the driver. Additionally, it’s your responsibility to pay the admission fees, although none of the fees we paid were excessive.

Great customized tour!

I booked this private day tour with Chand because I wanted to do some of the typical Mount Fuji sites and also wanted the flexibility to personalize the day to my interests. So that’s exactly what Chand made happen for me. He picked me up on time (actually he was a bit early) from my hotel and we drove to Mt Fuji, doing several things there. The highlight of the day for me was when Chand and I found a place on Lake Saiko where I could rent a stand up paddle board (a company called Hike and Seek). That was fantastic-exactly the kind of personalization that I want in a private tour. A perfect way to finish off my visit to Japan. Thanks Chand!

This private Mt. Fuji tour from Tokyo exceeded all expectations! My guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and adapted the day to fit the pace and interests perfectly. The itinerary was packed with iconic locations, yet never felt rushed. I was able to visit Chureito Pagoda for postcard-perfect views of Mt. The Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine offered a serene cultural stop, and Oshino Hakkai impressed with its crystal-clear spring ponds and traditional charm. Oishi Park was a highlight too, with vibrant flowers and lakefront Fuji views. Everything was perfectly timed, and the private transport made the day easy and comfortable. Great... simply Great

By far the best trip you can book and deserves better than 5 stars if available. It's so good that it's the highlight of our entire Tokyo visit. Also, ask for the private onsen and the speed boat trip, it's worth it. The trip was customizable, and the van was great. Most of all, Ahmad is a great person who helped with everything, and his suggestions were spot on, highly recommended, could not have picked a better service
