Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in fully clear kayaks in the world’s brightest bioluminescent bay! Watch fish light up as you paddle while learning the science behind this magical natural wonder
Meeting Location: Across from the Sun Bay Beach entrance/sign in Esperanza✨️ Meeting Time: 25 minutes before your scheduled tour time. We have a 10 min check-in window for all tours.
Departure Policy: Tours run on schedule and depart at the end of the check-in window, exactly 15 min before your tour time.
✨️Vieques is a separate island from mainland Puerto Rico. We recommend booking ferry tickets online 2–3 weeks in advance. Overnight stay recommended :) Guests on the earliest tour can catch the latest ferry on weekdays at 9:30 PM. On weekends the latest ferry is 9 PM, so we do not recommend trying to return on that ferry as it cuts time very close.

Don't recommend
These people may seem nice but they aren't kind. They know that a certain moon condition would not allow you to see anything. They know from the tour before that you are wasting your money but they'll take you out there anyway and fluff the experience with nonsense. We intentionally stayed overnight on the island just for this and they dont even have the decency to cancel knowing you wont experience not even a dot of blue. My advice is, if youre still willing to give them a try, do so during a new moon only. Other than that, if you dont experience what you pay for, they will take your money and not even partially refund you.

Great experience! If you travel with an odd group, the extra person will pair up with someone else (everyone on the tour was nice). The clear kayak bottoms are beautiful to see the bioluminescence when you're kayaking through the water (disturbing the water is what makes it so that you can see them).
You don't need to pack bug spray (or just get reef safe options) as the bay wasn't super bug-y. Wearing darker clothes with a swimsuit under would also be preferred as the dinoflagellates appear best when it's completely dark.

This was such an awesome experience! The guide was so knowledgeable and kind! The water was sparkling around us, it felt like we were kayaking in the stars! Beautiful experience!

**Such a Cool Experience!**
It was an overcast day, so the plankton weren’t quite as bright as they normally are, but it was still an absolutely amazing experience. Definitely a must-do while on the island!

Unfortunately, I don't know...
Unfortunately, the bioluminescence could not be observed due to the moon, but the guide Alex did everything possible to try to let us appreciate it. The only detail I didn't like is the meeting point; it doesn't look very safe and has no lighting. Everyone present there felt in danger because it is a lonely place without any kind of lighting. Thanks to Alex for taking us to a safer area so we didn't have to walk along that very dark road.

This was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I heavily debated doing this as I really wasn’t sure I had the money but omg am I glad we did it!! Truly the type of experience that nothing could describe you just have to do it!!
