Vancouver Island Multi-Cave Experience

I’m 65 and did the Multicave experience, inspired by my 14 year old nephew. Great experience. Our guide ‘Heather’ made sure our group was well cared for and she is extremely experienced in caving. I’m not an avid hiker and was a bit concerned of the 1km ‘up’ to the cave entrance. We had multiple rest stops so was a piece of cake. Highly recommended excursion.

It was such a unique experience! I would recommend to have an extra pair of pants and shoes or rent the suit and boots. You do get muddy and wet regardless of how dry it is outside the caves. I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get through some of the tighter spaces or hike up the waterfall but our guide Claire was awesome and guided me through it. A shoutout to Claire who was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. It’s an activity that is good for the whole family. I went with my husband and we are both in our 50s.

We very much enjoyed the Multi-cave tour with our guide Sonja. She was informative and also kept things light-hearted with her witty comments and jokes. We rented coveralls but found they weren't necessary in August. Gloves are definitely recommended but you can bring your own gardening or paddling gloves instead of renting them. Overall, it was a great experience.

Today, a group of 7 of us decided to head to the Horne Lake Caves and tested our skills on the The Action Pack (Main & Lower Caves) with the help our our trusty guide, Jenna - who btw, was truly the best of the best! She taught us things, allowed us to go at our pace, and totally had killer dad jokes! Top-notch through and through! Thanks for ALL you did for our group - just wish it was longer hehe. Will be back! Thanks everyone and a very special *hiiiiiigh fiiiiive* to Jenna =;)

Went with my husband and my mom (72 y.o.). Very interesting visit for all, and possible for senior. The guide was interesting and knowledgable and not pushy. He would suggest alternative when it was a little harder, and wait for everybody during the climb to the cave.

Highly recommend! We did the action packed adventures with the 2 caves in July 2026. Family of 5 ages 40, 37, 12, 11, and 9. You can have one more person but no one else joined. First, if you have a bit more of a belly than some it maybe be a little tricky (we had to adjust for our helmets at times to squeeze through areas). The cave squeeze does squeeze quite a bit so you may have to go for an adventures without the squeeze. We rented the suits and brought our own gloves. I highly recommend the suit for the action packed as there are some tight squeezes with your clothes and gloves for all of the caving adventures as your hands may getting a little scrapped up with the cave walls. We didn't get the boots so our shoes got a little wet with the waterfall climb but had it been wetter the boots would have been needed. We are a pretty active family and our kids are rather confident in their adventures, they did amazing and listened really well. I would prep your kids and remind them to follow the guild at all times for safety issues and for integrity of the caves themselves. There is a time of complete darkness so prepping younger kids for that is also a good idea. The caves themselves were beautiful with the unique structures and designs. The calcite formations are beautiful and it was a blessing to see the intricate and delicate structures as they form. Our guild was Sophie and she was very knowledgeable and excited to show us around. She was also very patient and helpful when needed. We "finished" a bit early with the confident movement of the kids and not requiring a lot of hand holding so she was able to do a couple "bonus" adventures. It is pricey but we absolutely loved it and it is definitely one of highlight of our trip.

This way exceeded my expectations. I went with my 12 yr old and my 9yr old and did the "Action-Packed" 90min tour. It was SO cool. Really interesting to learn and also a fun adventure/challenge!

It was definitely worth it! The caves are stunning and feel very natural. The slide was awesome, and climbing the small waterfall inside was a lot of fun. Passing through the optional "cheese grater" opening was a unique challenge that I'm glad I tried. Our tour guide was fantastic. She explained the different rock and calcite formations, showed us fossils, demonstrated how the calcite glows in the dark, and shared lots of interesting facts throughout the tour. Walking through the caves and seeing the beautiful natural formations was an unforgettable experience. She also made sure everyone was comfortable, safe, and enjoying the tour from start to finish. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a fun adventure and a chance to explore an incredible natural cave system.

A super tour. Everything was great and clearly explained, and these caves are simply amazing. One must crawl a bit here and there or (if one wishes) climb, but that is easily achievable at a normal fitness level and makes it an experience. And that at an unbeatable (very affordable) price.

My wife and I took the "Multi-Caves" tour at Horne Lake Caves on Friday, June 26th, 2026, and it was hands-down one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. The entire excursion was incredibly well-organized and thoroughly explained from start to finish. We were guided by Tyler, along with Stephanie, who was shadowing him as part of her guide training. Both of them were phenomenally well-informed, taking the time to explain exactly what we were looking at every step of the way. Their passion for the caves really shone through and added so much value to the trek. ​What truly set this tour apart was the pacing and the emphasis on safety. Even when navigating the more challenging and difficult passages, we felt completely safe and never once felt rushed. Tyler and Steph were exceptionally patient with our questions and perfectly accommodated our pace. If you are looking for an exciting, educational, and professionally run cave experience, we cannot recommend this tour highly enough.
