We really enjoyed seeing the paintings and the life history that were there at the museum. However we know there are other famous Van Gogh paintings that are not there. We feel it would be good if they at least were mentioned with details of where they currently are and visual replications of them. Also from a personal viewpoint I found it very annoying that I had to wait for people - often many at the same time - photographing the paintings - and even people posing for photographs in front of the famous ones. I really appeal to you to ban photography - or at least offer some sessions where photography is not allowed to let those who are interested appreciate the paintings better.
Good value for money and the descriptions on the painting are self explanatory. So even if you skip the audio guide, that is fine
I called 3 times to get my tickets and they kept saying they’d send them in an hour. I ordered the tickets on a Saturday for Monday and still did not get my tickets until the am on Monday and by then it was too late for me to arrange travel
Last minute at the museum found at the last moment because it is always full.
I recently did a short trip to the Netherlands and with all the museum options, I decided to do the special they have at the Van Gogh museum which is the last 1 hour at a discount price. It was a good decision as the time was just about right. It is still enough to see the highlights. The staff was very helpful in verifying how to get a ticket, and just overall friendliness. It was a good way to end my 'museum day'
Well-organized museum, audio-video simple to use and comprehensive, management of entries with scheduled times that allows for not having large crowds in the various rooms...Beautiful
Great museum. Do the audio. Comprehensive outline of Van Gogh and his history, family and artwork Well worth a visit.
A must for Amsterdam, with an excellent audio guide. I hadn't booked my tickets in time before the trip; with Viator, one day before, I managed to find it with a 100% markup, acceptable compared to other offers. Keep in mind that even if you select the option for minors, since the ticket is actually free, it is not issued, but neither is the reservation, so they might give you trouble at the entrance.
This museum beautifully communicated the depth of the artist Vincent Van Gogh. The audio was very informative and felt like almost a live guide .What a prolific artist ,especially in his last year of life .I was very sad he suffered so much mentally .They really were respectful about that aspect. The museum was laid out beautifully and it has fostered for me a great interest in him that I never had before .The gift shop had unique and reasonably priced moments. I loved this experience
The museum was wonderful. Great experience overall for the family. We enjoyed the sessions and the information shared. What wasn’t great was the purchasing of the tickets and the fact that Viator did not provide us valid tickets for our kids. The museum is free for under 18 and we had two tickets purchased for them, they were not provided. I only received 2 adult tickets and the ticket checkers were adamant that we needed tickets for the kids. They said that this was a problem with Viator and that I should address it with Viator. We were likely to be let in to the museum since we weren’t provided valid vouchers.
