Arrived in Matera at 10:00. Minivan, just 6 people in total. The excursion last till 12:00. Half of the time we stayed outside the old city not even entering it, listening to a very boring guide Mario. He showed only a small part of the old city. Couldn’t answer any of our questions. Entrance ticket to the church and the cave (2€ each), in my opinion, the tour operator could include in the price, and, of course, I would buy the tour for 4€ more. From 12:00 to 15:30 we had free time. Since I’ve been there before, I’ve brought the people from my group to a nice local trattoria and after lunch showed them another part of the city and beautiful panoramic views that showed the whole city. The transfer was great and in time, but I was very disappointed with the guide. Not professional at all, very boring, looked like he was not happy to be even there with us.

Sassi di Matera
Our tour with transfer starts from Bari, more precisely from the meeting point with all the participants of the Teatro Petruzzelli. We will leave towards Matera with the minivan with a driver. Once in Matera there will be a guide waiting for us in the main square, from where we can admire the view on the Sassi. We will start the guided walking tour in the two oldest quarters carved into the rock: Sasso Barisano and Sasso caveoso, where we will have the opportunity to visit a cave church and a cave house. We will walk in the historical center and among the characteristic alleys of this unique city inserted among the UNESCO world heritage sites in 1993. We will have some free time before returning to Bari.
