This was an amazing tour - our tour guide Brian was great, and we loved getting to learn about the history of some of the foods and veganism in Japan. The foods we had were delicious and we got to experience places and foods we wouldn't have known how to find otherwise! This wasn't the tour guide's fault at all - he was brilliant - but we were sent to the wrong meeting place by Viator and we had to travel an additional 15 mins or so by subway, and we ended up late. Please just double check and ensure the meeting place is correct!
I highly recommend this vegan food experience! Sahori led our tour - she was super-friendly and fun, and the food was amazing! We went to 5 different places, each with a different type of vegan food. We had been surprised that eating vegan in Tokyo (mostly in Akasaka) was much more difficult than we thought it would be, so it was SO relaxing to have someone else do the research and communicate with the restaurant staff, and all we had to do was show up and eat. And, boy, did we eat!!
My husband and I had such a great experience on the Tokyo Vegan Food Tour with Sara. We ended up being the only ones on the tour, which made it feel even more personal and special. Sara was very friendly, personable, and easy to talk to. She not only introduced us to great vegan food options in Tokyo, but she also educated us about the history of veganism in Japan, which added such a meaningful element to the experience. It was a great way to explore the city, learn something new, and enjoy delicious food.
I highly recommend the tour! Bunga was a great tour guide and was very knowledgeable on vegan restaurants throughout Tokyo! The food we had was so delicious!
Very interesting vegan food Tour! I got a lot of interesting advices about food and other topics from the Guide Bunga. Thank you very much! I enjoyed the wonderful food and will come back to the foodstops.
We were underwhelmed by this tour and felt that we were seriously overcharged for it in terms of what we got for the cost. The guide was nice but the tour included a mostly sweets (nowhere was it clear in the info that there would be mostly sweets), and the things we tried were very small portion sized. We made 4 stops, and one walk by stop, but 3 were sweets, and to give an example of the portion size, at one of the sweets place we literally received a silver-dollar sized piece of mochi each. One of the stops took forever (over 45 minutes) to bring our bite sized vegan fried chicken equivalent to us and our guide didn’t react or take initiative to check on what was taking so long. That means we spent an hour, or a third of the tour, just sitting there waiting. I have very few regrets from our Japan trip, but paying $100 per person for this is certainly one of them. I’ve been on many food tours but after this tour, my husband and I looked at each other and went “that’s it?”
Absolutely brilliant tour from start to finish. Sahori was exceptional - she was informative, kind, and very knowledgeable. All of the vegan restaurants she took us to were absolutely delicious and provided us with a true Japanese experience without having to worry about what we were eating. We were so full afterwards. We had an amazing time and wouldn’t hesitate to do a tour with Japan Food Travels again. Thank you Sahori…. We also made it to the next station with your fabulous instruction's and very kind advice.
I participated in the Vegan Food Tour with Daisy as my guide, and it was a terrific way to to try out local staples of Japanese cuisine that had been veganized, and also learn about the history of veganism throughout Japan. I appreciated the recommendations provided on how to shop at convenience stores looking for vegan items. Definitely consider this tour to learn about all of the wonderful vegan foods one must try while visiting Japan!
This was a great vegan tour of Shibuya and Ebisu with amazing ramen, delicious taiyaki, fruit sandwiches and fried chicken at a vegan Izakaya. The host was very knowledgeable and had all kinds of tips on what you can eat in Japan. I highly recommend this tour.
Fantastic vegan food tour with our guide, Daisy. My wife and I were the only two participants on this tour and the food was incredible. Not being a vegan myself, I thoroughly enjoyed the restaurants we stopped at and the food we tasted. Daisy made this a wonderful experience and my wife enjoyed everything about it. Thank you, Daisy, for such a fun, memorable, organized and well planned walking tour. The food was great!!
