Whilst the guide was polite & friendly, we didn’t get anything out of the tour. The weather was terrible & heavy rain. I appreciate it’s not in anyone’s control but to be fair the tour should be cancelled because one can’t walk for 3hrs in heavy rain just because we had booked it. We had asked her if we had the option but were told no. Therefore we went ahead, The guide was carrying a book and reading from it, heavy rain & walking made it almost impossible to hear what she was saying. We only went to one place & then to Macha making. This was a joke because we had to buy Macha powder which came with a bowl & water, we simply mixed it. Waste of time. We eventually had to tell her that rain was making it impossible so decided to end it. Waste of money & our time.
It was an amazing and personalized experience! We were on our honeymoon and truly enjoyed ourselves. We got lucky and it was just the two of us on the tour. I highly recommend booking the tour and being able to learn and understand more about the shrine, the culture, and Tokyo in general! BIG thank you to Renge. She was very kind, patient, polite, and offered to take pictures of us! She also had amazing recommendations for food and such!
It was an excellent experience. Very nice having someone to explain what we were seeing and talk to about Tokyo as we explored. Do it!
This is a unique tour as the guides are college students learning English. I signed up for a small group tour and lucked out as it’s slow season and I got 2 guides all to myself! Both of them were very sweet and I enjoyed learning about Tōkyō/Japan from their perspective. They were kind enough to take pictures for me and send them to me later. This tour was the perfect amount of time for me as I had signed up to do mochi making in the afternoon and didn’t want to wake up too early for a morning tour. We saw quite a lot in a short amount of time. The only reason I did not give the tour 5 stars is because the students were not as knowledgeable as a professional guide. They read from a script (quite well mind you - I was very impressed with their English for the short amount of time they have been learning), but I had paid less for another tour with a guide who was more knowledgeable and experienced. However, I was happy with the experience overall as I did learn some new things, saw some great sites, and enjoyed the company of my 2 guides.
The tour was very Informative! Our guides were great and they had good command of English. The tour to the Meiji shrine was comprehensive. Good value for the money!
Thank you very much for joining our tour. We are truly honored to have been able to provide an experience for you on your first visit to Japan. As Japanese students, we are very happy that you enjoyed Meiji Shrine, a unique place in Japan. We look forward to seeing you again someday.
We greatly enjoyed our two-hour tour with Crotis! Taiki and Renge took us through the Meiji Temple (with guidance on temple protocol which we appreciated), Harajuku’s main drag (pointing out the pig cafe), and Shibuya Scramble, with a stop for Matcha along the way. They were enthusiastic and thoughtful guides (greeting us with small treats) and followed up promptly with personal restaurant recommendations and photos from our afternoon after our tour. It added a lot to our vacation to meet locals and learn a bit about their life in Tokyo. Highly recommend!
Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback about our tour! We carefully consider the experiences we offer with each guest in mind. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the experience we planned. If you ever come back to Japan and need any assistance, please feel free to ask us anything. We hope you have taken wonderful memories of Japan back with you.
This trip was definitely a wonderful experience! The vivid explanations made me immersed in the unique charm of Harajuku. Especially at Meiji Jingu Shrine, the guide introduced all aspects of Japanese traditional culture in detail. I also participated in the shrine visit and tried to write a few strokes of "Ema". During the break, the matcha tiramisu at the matcha shop was also very delicious. This was the first time I made matcha by myself, although it was a little bitter. The cost performance was very high. I also learned a lot of local knowledge. So lucky. The tour guide was very kind and we talked a lot, such as Japanese life, diet, etc. He also introduced me to many attractions and shops worth visiting.

Thank you for joining us on this tour. I'm very happy that you enjoyed Meiji Shrine in Harajuku. Matcha is a traditional Japanese food. I feel that once people try it, they will understand the depth of matcha. Also, thank you for complimenting our guide.
