Asakusa also offers a glimpse into traditional Tokyo with its well-preserved Edo-era architecture and is a popular destination for both tourists and locals.
Included in both our "East Tokyo Day" and "Local Tokyo Day" routes, Ueno is a bustling neighborhood known for its cultural attractions and green spaces. It's famous for its numerous electronics shops, anime and manga stores, as well as maid cafes where customers are served by costumed waitresses. This neighbourhood has a unique blend of technology, gaming, and subculture that makes it a must-visit destination for tech enthusiasts and fans of Japanese pop culture.
Included in our "Local Tokyo Day" route, The Yanaka neighbourhood is famous for it's traditional shitamachi (old downtown) atmosphere. Miraculously spared from WWII bombings, it features narrow, atmospheric streets, traditional wooden architecture, cozy cafes, and a relaxed vibe that contrasts sharply with Tokyo's bustling modern centers.
Included in our "West Tokyo Day" route, Harajuku is known as the epicenter of Tokyo’s eccentric street fashion and youth culture. You can explore the bustling Takeshita Street, relax at Meiji Shrine, or shop along the trendy, tree-lined avenue of Omotesando.

It is famous for its towering skyscrapers, giant 3D cat billboard, vibrant neon nightlife in Kabukicho, and the tranquil Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden.

Included in our "Central Tokyo Day" route, the Tokyo Imperial Palace is the official residence of the Emperor of Japan. Located in central Chiyoda Ward on the former site of Edo Castle, this massive, park-like complex blends centuries of feudal history with lush, seasonal gardens.
Included in our "Central Tokyo Day" route, Marunouchi is Tokyo’s premier financial hub and a vibrant lifestyle district located between the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station. Known for its sleek skyscrapers and historic red-brick station architecture, the area offers upscale dining, luxury shopping, and access to major transit lines.
Included in our "Indie Tokyo Day" route and nown for its vintage fashion shops, bookstores, music shops and cafés, Shimokitazawa (or "Shimokita") is known as Tokyo’s bohemian hub. This neighbourhood has a laid-back hipster vibe and the maze-like alleys are packed with curated vintage clothing stores, independent record shops, cozy indie cafes, and vibrant local theaters.
Included in our "Indie Tokyo Day" route, Koenji is a retro district of Tokyo in Suginami Ward. Before the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, Koenji was known for its historical temples and shrines. Post-earthquake, many traders and businesses took their work to Koenji due to the mass destruction in and around central Tokyo.
Included in our "Indie Tokyo Day" route, Nakano is a densely populated residential area with many affordable and unique hidden spots. Labelled as the ‘quieter’ version of the famous Akihabara, Nakano offers many anime, manga, and video game stores that are one of a kind.
Amir provided a helpful and informative tour for my wife and I on our first full day in Tokyo. We texted before the trip and customized an itinerary. He met us at our hotel and helped us learn how to navigate the trains, coffee shops, convenience stores, and much more. We stayed in Tokyo for almost two weeks (mix of vacation and business). Amir generously offered help and advice even after our tour. He also took great photos. We had a wonderful time.
Amir was our guide and he was amazing - he made our introduction to Tokyo and Japanese culture so much easier. From teaching us local customs to showing us the sights and the food, he provided us with the perfect first day for first timers in Japan/Tokyo! He was very personable with our family of six and we are so thankful that we met him and got to share a part of our time in Tokyo with him. We highly recommend Amir and Flip Tours to anyone visiting Tokyo!
We had a great time. Leon was superb - very knowledgeable about the city and sites to see! He was incredibly accommodating to customize the trip to our preferences! We had fun, saw a couple of great parts of the city, learned to use the subway and had a great time. Highly recommend.
This was my first time in Tokyo and I wanted to get the most out of my trip. The walking tour was the best way to explore the city. Our tour guide, Amir, was very knowledgeable, passionate, and friendly. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed this tour. We toured 5 neighborhoods, Senso-ji temple, and market. We grabbed bites at different local places from matcha ice cream to ramen. Amir also recommended places and bars to go see after the tour. I highly recommend!
A very informative tour with lots of local and personal stories of Amir, to do at the beginning of your trip because he has a lot of advice to give you, hidden gems, that allow you to take a tour of Tokyo impossible to do otherwise! I highly recommend it!
Had the best tour with Leon! He was very chill, gave us our space, suggested so many different things. He gave us tips on which subway tickets to get, best place for Shinkansen tickets, tips on how to ride the subway and get around, and of course a great tour in Asakusa. I was with 3 teen boys and they enjoyed being with him too! He kept kids ages into consideration & suggested things they’d like to do to. Even after our tour he kept in touch and had some great suggestions for our family. As first timers in Japan, it was great to have someone show us the ropes which helped immensely for the rest of our trip!
I had an amazing experience on this tour. We visited Askakusa and the Sensoji temple, Shibuya, Harajuku and the Meiji shrine, and Shinjuku. My guide was very thoughtful about my interests related to food, shopping and sightseeing, and added numerous recommendations during her tour. I would strongly recommend this to anyone that has limited time to see the highlights of Tokyo!
