The Fruit Port is a small pier on the banks of the Luján River in the town of Tigre, next to which the fruit market is located. They owe their names to the fact that until the middle of the 20th century, fruit production from the Paraná Delta landed there, which was then marketed in the city of Buenos Aires.
Paseo Victorica

Catedral de San Isidro

The Cathedral of San Isidro is a religious temple of neogothic style. It adopted forms of said style used in Europe between the 12th and 16th centuries, the only difference being that modern materials and techniques were used. The most characteristic of the Cathedral are its slender lines designed from the religiosity so that they point towards the sky. Its facade was restored with imitation stone and exposed brick with tasks of molding the original ornaments in a workshop.
Its main tower is 68 m high. Its base is a Latin cross with three naves with a circular apse. The columns are cylindrical and the stone and brick walls have openings with stained glass made in France and Gothic rosettes.
Upon entering the Cathedral, its grandeur can be appreciated through its forms that stand out from its last restoration. Inside you can see the neo-Gothic style columns and arches that take you to the altar.

It is a one-hour boat ride through a part of the Tigre Delta (Luján River and Sarmiento River). It is important to highlight that the boat ride does not reach the mouth of the Paraná River at the Río de la Plata. The guide is a recording that the boat captain plays once the ride begins, so there is no possibility of interacting or asking questions about what is being toured. If you do not book a tour, you can get to Tigre by taking the "Tigre" branch of the MITRE line at the Retiro station in Buenos Aires. At the end of the route, the station in Tigre is very close to the river terminal where the boats and catamarans depart; there you can pay directly for the one- or two-hour boat ride.

Great to To, the name of Buenos Aires
Alfredo was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable on the history of Argentina and made the tour much more interesting for a European tourist.
We went on the tour which included going on the boat trip in Port Tigre and around the islands in the Delta.
Would highly recommend.

If you want to see the Tigre islands
If you want to see the part of the Tigre island this is the only way. As a girl I watched Verano del 98 and it brought back those memories since it was filmed there.

Tigre excursión from Buenos Aires
After hearing from several people that we needed to visit the Tigre Delta we booked an afternoon private tour. We drove from the city center through Ave Libertador which was a very nice scenery, we stopped at San Isidro and saw the church and then proceeded to take a catamaran boat tour on the rivers Sarmientos and San Antonio. We were unable to walk around the San Fernando port area nor stop for lunch but it was a beautiful scenery.

Okay
The boat ride on the Tigre Delta (about 100 passengers n the boat) was pleasant and interesting. The "private tour" aspect was transportation to and from our hotel. Four of us were crammed uncomfortably into a small car. The driver spoke very little English, so there was not a lot of commentary about the sites in between the hotel and boat ride. Main activity was to try to sell us on a stop where we were supposed to purchase leather goods. We turned it down. In sum, would have been better to take a big bus tour.

Rocky start, but the tour guide saved it
We booked with Depasseios LLC (dp) for a city tour through Get Your Guide, and we had a great experience. Because of this, we went directly to the dp website to book the Tigre Delta tour. What a different experience, and not in a good way. They lost our reservation, and no tour guide showed up to pick us up at the scheduled time of 9am. Fortunately, we still had Luca, our city tour guide, on WhatsApp, and he was able to make contact with the office (none of the numbers we were provided with for dp worked), and they scrambled to find a guide for us who arrived at 10:15 am.
The great news is that Diego, our eventual tour guide, was fantastic! We made it to Tigre by noon for the river tour, and we still had a successful day. At the end of the tour, Diego introduced us to El Ateneo Grand Splendid, an opera house converted into a bookstore, which we would have never found without Diego.
So my rating is a 5 for Diego, and a 1 for Depasseios LLC, the tour company. That averages out to a 3.
Operator response
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and delay with your Tigre Delta booking—this is not the experience we aim to provide. We appreciate your patience and are glad Luca could help us reconnect and that Diego was able to step in and deliver a great tour. Your comments help us improve our processes.
