This type of history, the working class ‘everyday’ job rarely gets explored, celebrated and polished to this degree so it was uplifting to see this interactive education being done so well. Lots of attention to detail and effort gone into the museum - and it pays off. Kids love it as well as being given a glimpse into history (an eye opener for the adults too) The mining, farming and other museums should take note Enjoy!
We had such a great morning visiting here. Loved wandering around the museum which is well laid out and interactive for adults and children. Loved the jolly postman exhibit brought back great childhood memories. The mail rail was great fun. So interesting and educational, I never even knew it existed. Worth the trip.

An excellent experience looking into the history of the postal service. Worth a visit
The museum part is over the road and it’s fine for a bit of time filling and the post is now something more historical interest than current. The main pull is the Mail Rail giving a brief ride (15 minutes) on a cramped train which is in the style of the original running Mail trains. It’s an extraordinary thing that was little known to Londoners before the museum opened.
We were at a loose end in London on a hot Saturday looking for something to do. Neither me or my partner are fans of the heat and so we’re looking for something air conditioned and indoors. I’d seen the Postal Museum on YouTube (Geoff Marshall’s channel and Secrets Of The Underground) and thought it would be a good place to visit, my fiancee less so though. Despite her reservations she loved it and commented how much she’d enjoyed it. The museum is split into 2 parts, the first part is and underground tour on Mail Rail, with the second part being an exhibition about the history of Royal Mail and its evolution over time. The exhibits were well laid out, informative and interactive. It’s well worth a visit, but don’t use the cafe if you do as it’s very overpriced.
Extremely enjoyable and informative museum. The Mail Rail was an excellent experience with a lot of interactive exhibits. The postal museum was also great fun and can see why kids love it so much.

Absolutely ridiculous. Asked to place all bags in an unlocked locker prior to boarding the mini train. Fine, accept that makes sense for rucksacks but to be asked to leave a small handbag in an unlocked locker is completely unnecessary. A waste of £18 (overpriced irrespective). Save your money and go somewhere else without the stupid rules. And to be told ‘it’s the rules’ is not an explanation as to why this was required.

The restriction on bags is a safety measure that applies to all visitors, regardless of the size of the bag. Mail Rail is a narrow-gauge railway with enclosed carriages and limited space, and the policy is in place to help ensure the safety and comfort of everyone on board. To apply this fairly and consistently, we ask all visitors to store bags in the lockers provided before the journey. I do understand, however, that being told "it's the rules" without any further explanation would have been frustrating, and I'll ensure your comments are shared with our Visitor Experience team so they can remind colleagues to explain the reasons behind the policy more clearly when speaking with visitors. I'm sorry that this aspect of your visit affected your overall enjoyment of the experience.
