Very good excursion thanks to Ruben and our guide Sajeeh. We went with the Secretoo agency, which is very professional. The waterfalls are breathtaking.
Wonderful day with a great guide. Our guide led us well through the very steep climb and looked after us. Hike is a bit of an understatement, but the descent and ascent are definitely worth it 🌴
Very poor experience with Motrek Adventures. If I could give them a negative rating, I would. I arranged a private canyoning session for 23 June. The company confirmed by WhatsApp that the latest start time would be 11am, that I should meet the guide, Freddy, at Henrietta Bus Terminal, and that I would need to pay cash on site. I arranged (expensive) transport and travelled there specifically for this activity, noting I stayed an hour away from the site. On the morning itself, they messaged me at around 10:24am saying “don’t be in a hurry” and that “even 11:30am was okay”, but gave no clear explanation that the guide would be late. I was already on the way and asked them to clarify what they meant. When I arrived at around 11am, I could not find Freddy. I messaged repeatedly asking for his number and called several times, but received no answer. When I eventually encountered Freddy, nearly 30 minutes late, the explanation was - defensively - that they normally do not run the activity at 11am but had tried to do it for me, and that there had been an issue with another guest so he was late. That may explain his delay, but it does not justify confirming a time, giving really unclear meeting arrangements, failing to provide a direct contact number, and then not responding at all when I was already at the meeting point at the pre agreed time, having been given no warning that the guide would be late. Please refer to the screenshots. What made the experience worse was the attitude. Rather than being apologetic or taking responsibility for the poor communication, Freddy came across as angry and unapologetic, raising his voice at me and later on, my driver. For an outdoor/adventure activity, clear communication and reliability are basic requirements. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Motrek Adventures. The activity may be good when it actually happens, but the organisation, communication, and customer handling around my booking were very poor so I wouldn’t have any confidence in them when things go wrong.
Our trip to Tamarind Falls was absolutely fantastic and definitely one of the highlights of our vacation in Mauritius! Our guide was outstanding. From the very beginning, he created a wonderful atmosphere and showed great patience throughout the entire hike. He even treated us to fresh exotic fruits and delicious local food, which added such an authentic and special touch to the experience. One of the best parts was that he took photos of us constantly at all the best spots! It allowed us to truly immerse ourselves in the breathtaking nature without worrying about our phones, and we ended up with amazing memories captured on camera. Summary: We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Mauritius. Don't miss out on this incredible hike!
Friendly guide but lack of explanations about fauna and flora. Pretty waterfalls paths accessible lots of plugs with branches
Fantastic hike with breathtaking views and such an informative and enthusiastic guide who was happy to show us his “office, spa and gym” The hike does require physical fitness because there is a lot of clambering, however we felt very safe the whole time. Our guide was so helpful to take photos and videos of us to remind us of our trip, and because we were a relatively able group we went off the main track a bit to see an extra cave which was fantastic. Would definitely recommend, but make sure you don’t mind getting a bit dirty and the track can be a bit muddy. Highlight was definitely the 5m jump into the water at the bottom of one of the waterfalls (optional but well worth doing!)
Mr Isram ensured our safety, helped us with the kids to make our journey easier, lovely and outgoing person👌😇 thank you so so much 🤗🤗
Fantastic guide! Excursion to do without hesitation with a guide like Jeez. Good physical condition necessary!!!
Just getting to the meeting point proved to be an adventure as we were instructed to meet at a bus stop, but then a lot of the roads were being updated or newly constructed so Google maps got lost a little. Once we got to the meeting point and we met our tour guide Jeez, we were on our way. Jeez was very easy to talk to, friendly, knowledgeable, and his English was easy to understand. He was also very patient with us during the descents/ascents as we were going a bit slow due to my wife’s bad knees. (Pro tip: wear really good trail running shoes or hiking boots as the trail can get quite steep and sometimes slippery if it just rained) As we walked along, we shared some jokes and laughs and stories with Jeez, which helped take our mind off of all the bugs biting us. (Another pro tip: bring bug spray!) As we descended down towards the last waterfall, we experienced some cool things (fish massage, natural jacuzzi, etc.) and took some cool pics on the edge of the water falls. Jeez later revealed he studied photography which was evident with his picture taking/filming skills. At the lunch spot, we were treated to some samosas, roti, and pineapple, all while watching most of the guides and a few daring tourists jump off the ledge into the pool below. A few people went swimming in the pool, which the water was a bit cold for my taste! As we headed back up, we took a different path which was much steeper but allowed us to gain a lot of altitude in a short time. Once up top, while chatting with Jeez, he treated us to some fresh sugar cane from the fields around us. All in all, although the hike was tough it was really cool to see the waterfalls and take some memorable photos. Jeez is a great tour guide who my wife and I would highly recommend! Again, being some good trail running or hiking shoes.
