What a wonderful tour! We met Maria at a common spot and just the two of us in the tour. Maria took us on a learning tour of the local fresh market, sampling things that they use in their cooking. While we were doing this she was also buying items for our meal. She cooked us a seafood meal at her residence. It was great and thoroughly enjoyed. A little different type of tour, but most enjoyable.
Great tour around the market which was enhanced by being shown around by a local. We loved trying the samples and hearing about the local produce. We were given a choice of what we would like to cook and our guide bought the ingredients while we were exploring the market stalls. The walk to the guides home was further than we expected (around 2.5km) but had a spectacular view of Archimedes tomb. We enjoyed learning to make pasta from scratch followed by tiramisu. The food was delicious and accompanied with some local wine.

Her warm and engaging teaching style made the experience both educational and fun, creating lasting memories for our family. To top it off, we enjoyed our handmade pasta with a delicious homemead pesto using ingrediants Maria Rita gathered in the Ortigia market during our walk (tomato, almonds, basil, pecorino, olive oil, and garlic)--a deliciously authentic meal. We savored every bite with a newfound appreciation for Sicilian cuisine. We had so much fun on this tour. The cooking class was amazing and the instructor was gracious and hospitable and wonderful. She and her family are so welcoming and kind. The food was amazing!! Highlight of our vacation. It’s a must do in Sicily!!!!
