I had 2 really great lessons with this school over 2 days. It was too windy to surf at Sanur, so they provided transport to Kuta in the price. I have surfed before but needed help with turning. Alan my teacher was great, he explained everything really well and helped me so much. I would highly recommend them to other people 🤩
We had a great family experience here as beginners with our two kids. The instructors were really friendly and kept a close eye on the children the whole time, which made us feel comfortable out in the water. It was a pretty flat day, but they still knew where to take us to find some small waves that were perfect for learning. One tip — make sure you’re a confident swimmer in the surf, as your arms can get pretty tired paddling for waves if you’re not used to it. Overall a really enjoyable first surfing experience for our family. Dad 44, son 12 and daughter 15
They picked us up on time at our hotel. The staff was professional and caring (they advised us to put more sunblock and provide us their sunblock which was really efficient). The coaches are nice and really patient. We had a wonderful experience and we will probably see them again if we have the chance to come back.
The sufing class at Legian beach was fine, but the price was a total rip off. We paid 3,5 mill IDR for 3 people (1 mill IDR was for the pictures). At another school we paid 550 000 IDR for same class 3 people, pictures included. Yes Rip Curl has certified instructors, insurance and transportation included, but that isnt worth the difference. I just feel stupid and robbed since i paid that much.

We offer certified instructors, our surf coaches are International Surf Association instructors and each holds the International Bronze Medallion Certification for lifeguarding, insurance, transportation, equipment, fresh water during the session, Rip Curl Rash shirt, Rip Curl Legging, Rip Curl Booties (reef shoes), Gath surf helmet, Changing room facilities, Bathroom, Water showers, Fresh towel, Zinc & Fresh Fruits after lesson, which accounts for the price difference. We do not compromise on quality and safety, and we believe our services are priced fairly for what we provide. Accusing us of robbery is unfounded and unfair. We pride ourselves on delivering top-notch experiences and transparency in our pricing. If you were unsatisfied, we wish you had raised your concerns directly with us during your visit. We believe these elements significantly enhance the quality and safety of the experience we provide. I tried a few instructors with different companies while in bali, but finally got Budi as my instructor from Rip Curl. He was very patient with me and made me feel safe in the water even with the waves crashing down on us. I made progress and I’m happy with the experience. Big thumbs up and definitely will enroll into Rip Curl again on my next trip.
These guys are the best! Rey, Budi and Namang were so helpful, funny, and we finished four days of surfing very confident and loving it. Definitely recommend!!
Really good communication via WhatsApp prior to lesson, driver picked up on time and was very friendly and chatty. Arrived to the lesson, given strong cream for the face and allowed to dip in sea before lesson on the beach. Moved to the sea to practice; four of us and two instructors helping us. They also had a photographer on the beach taking pictures. Photos 350k/pp but they are willing to do deals for larger groups. They email digitalis over to you very quickly. Things to bear in mind; Public changing rooms and toilets. The shower is quite literally a hose pipe hooked up - but does the job well! The other thing is the men were offered rash shirts. In hind sight the girls wish we had asked for them too as we got very badly sunburned during the activity despite waterproof strong spf sun cream
I liked positive approach, advice about first steps to surfing. Also the backround was OK (showers, cabines for cloth change, reception). It is possible to pay by credit card and you can buy pictures from your lesson. I would recommend prolonging the opening hours as they close at 5p.m which was too yearly for me.

We asked to join a beginner group lesson but on arrival we found out we had been booked a private 1hr lesson (instead of the much cheaper group 2hr lesson). It was our first time surfing. Our instructor's English was far from good, we were taken to a reef break that probably wasn't the most suitable place for two beginners. We spent the whole class battling to paddle out and had only 2 attemps at catching a wave each. We went to another school the next day and had a much better experience.

When it comes to your instructor we are sad to hear that you didn't feel his level of English was good enough. All of our instructors go through necessary English lessons before starting to give surf lessons for guests to ensure their level of teaching is good. We want to apologize if this wasn't the case with your instructor and definitely will follow up on this. Your surf lesson was held in Sanur. Normally we take our beginner students to Baby reef where we also take our kid surfers too, as this is most ideal wave for beginners. On that day when you took the lesson it was flat on Baby reef, which means no wave at all. That's why we chose to have your lesson at another spot in Sanur. This wave is a bit more challenging than Baby reef but still the best option for you since everywhere else was hardly no wave at all. We do understand going by boat and surfing out at reef can be a new and strange experience for many but our instructors always do their best to make you feel comfortable. Your accommodation was also close to our Sanur school which is why we thought it would be more pleasant for you to surf locally as then you didn't need to spend hours in traffic when we are transporting you to school and back. After all, we are truly sorry that your experience with us wasn't like it should've been and we would like to make this up to you.
