Description

Sacred Valley Tour is one of the most popular tours in the region. The Sacred Valley of the Incas was a crucial area for the Inca empire and it functioned as both an agricultural, spiritual and political center for them. Throughout its length there are many Inca and Pre-Inca sites that can be found and the Sacred Valley tour visits the 4 main sites, Chinchero, Moray, Salt Mines and Ollantaytambo. Many tourists opt to do this tour just before their visit to Machu Picchu as you can choose to finish in Ollantaytambo from where you take the train on to Aguas Calientes (the town at the base of Machu Picchu). • Duration: Approximately 9 hours.

Itinerary

360 min

Sacred Valley Tour start early and head to the high mountain village of Chinchero, famous for its weaving and spectacularly sited at high altitude (3,800m/12,500 ft.) We will visit a weaving house and have a demonstration on dyeing and weaving techniques as well as visiting the famous Chinchero market. From Chinchero, we descend to the terraces in Moray. Moray boasts three amphitheater-like terraces made by the Incas. These terraces, which are carved deep into the earth in a bowl shape, were thought to be used to determine the optimal conditions for growing crops. When you are done exploring Moray you will head to the salt mines of Maras, which is about 2 miles away. This village is known as a former salt-producing center that is thought to date back all the way to pre-Inca times. There are over 3000 salt pools all carved into the mountain side, being filled daily by a little stream of water. We descend to the base of the Sacred Valley and then onto Ollantaytambo, which features an impressive set of terraces leading from the village centre. Places that are visited: • Chinchero (traditional weaving center). • Moray. • Salt Mines • Ollantaytambo.

An unforgettable honeymoon in Cusco & Machu Picchu

Our honeymoon in Cusco and Machu Picchu was unforgettable, and Waman Adventures played a huge part in making it such a special experience. From the moment we arrived in Cusco on Monday afternoon, someone from Waman Adventures was already waiting to greet us and take us to our hotel, conveniently located just a few minutes from Plaza de Armas. Our 3-day tour was perfectly organized. On the second day, we visited Chinchero, the Maras Salt Mines, and Moray before boarding the train to Aguas Calientes. On the third day, we were picked up early to take the bus to the breathtaking Machu Picchu. One of the things we appreciated most was never having to worry about logistics. Our guide, Julio, had every ticket ready for each destination, allowing us to simply enjoy the experience. As a bilingual couple, we also loved that he seamlessly guided us in both Spanish (my native language) and English (my wife’s). Our small group of only five people made the experience feel much more personal, and Julio was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and never made us feel rushed. He even took many amazing photos that we’ll treasure forever. A special thank you to our driver, Beltrán, who was always cheerful, helpful with our luggage, and went above and beyond by returning to our hotel after we had already checked out when we realized we had forgotten some money. That level of kindness meant so much to us. Throughout the entire process, Darwin was exceptional. He stayed in touch through WhatsApp from the time we booked in January, throughout our trip, and even after it ended. His communication and attention to detail gave us complete peace of mind. We also decided to stay an extra day in Cusco, and Waman Adventures kindly adjusted our airport transfer, picking us up from a different location than originally planned without any issues. Finally, thank you to Guido, who safely drove us to the airport and made our last day just as pleasant as the first. One thing we especially loved about Waman Adventures is that they employ local Cusqueños. It gave us the opportunity to connect with the local culture in an authentic way, and we even learned a little Quechua along the journey. As this was our honeymoon, I wanted everything to be perfect, and Waman Adventures exceeded every expectation. To Darwin, Julio, Beltrán, Guido, and the entire Waman Adventures team—thank you for giving us memories that will last a lifetime. Tupananchiskama! —————————————— Our honeymoon in Cusco and Machu Picchu was an unforgettable experience, and Waman Adventures was a fundamental part of making everything turn out even better than we imagined. Since we arrived in Cusco on Monday afternoon, there was already a Waman Adventures representative waiting for us to take us to our hotel, located just a few minutes' walk from the Plaza de Armas. Our three-day tour was perfectly organized. On the second day, we visited Chinchero, the Maras Salt Mines, and Moray, to then board the train heading to Aguas Calientes. The next day, they picked us up early to go up by bus to the wonderful citadel of Machu Picchu. Something we really appreciated was not having to worry about the logistics. Our guide, Julio, already had all the tickets ready for each site, which allowed us to simply enjoy every moment. As a bilingual couple, we also loved that he could guide us in both Spanish (my language) and English (my wife's). Additionally, being a small group of only five people, the experience felt much more personalized. Julio was always patient, very knowledgeable about the history and culture, never made us feel rushed, and, to complete the experience, he took incredible photographs of us that we will keep forever. A very special thank you to Beltrán, our driver, who was always kind, cheerful, and willing to help with the luggage. He even had the great kindness of returning to the hotel after we had already checked out when we realized we had forgotten money there. That gesture speaks for itself about the human quality of the team. We also want to recognize the excellent work of Darwin, who was looking out for us via WhatsApp since January, when we booked the tour, throughout our entire stay, and even after the trip ended. His constant communication gave us a lot of peace of mind. Furthermore, since we decided to stay an additional day in Cusco, Waman Adventures adapted our airport transfer without any issues, picking us up at a different location than originally scheduled. Finally, many thanks to Guido, who took us to the airport with total safety and closed our trip in the best way. Another aspect that we really valued is that Waman Adventures works with local people, Cusqueños who know and love their land. Thanks to that, we felt a much more authentic connection with the Andean culture and even learned a few words in Quechua during the tour. Since it was our honeymoon, we wanted everything to be perfect, and Waman Adventures exceeded all our expectations. Thank you, Darwin, Julio, Beltrán, Guido, and the entire Waman Adventures team, for giving us memories that we will carry with us for a lifetime. Until we meet again!
