It is said, for example, that this temple was first used to venerate a holy priest named professor Kuturan and the next holy priest, named Dang Hyang Niratha. This priest had ended his holy journey in this place that is called moksha, also known as nirvana. This area has several temples associated with the main temple of Uluwatu. There are various activities in regards to religious ceremonies performed in the temple according to the Hindu Balinese calendar. Once at the temple, enjoy the beauty of the sunset over the cliffs of Uluwatu. Watch a traditional hour-long dance performance, performed right around sunset. Let the guide explain the significance of the dance, that the essence of the dance is the rescue of a good king while the wife is kidnapped by an evil king. Then sit back and enjoy the ambiance, as long-tailed monkeys howl and climb trees around the temple.

I would like to thank Tri and the driver for the wonderfull time we spent at the Uluwatu Temple. They were largely on time to pick us up. I was instantly at ease. The are both very kind people. Tri gave us a lot of interesting information about life in Bali, answered all my questions. She protected us from the monkeys 😀 and took some pictures for me because I couldn't see clearly without my sunglasses 😀😃. I am thankfull I still got them (the monkeys like to steal them), thanks to Tri. She even gave me practical tips for the coming excursions we were about to do in the next days. When I told her I hoped finding Mangosteen tea, she let us stop at a Coffee plantation where I could taste and buy this particular tea. Thank you very much for the flexibility. Tri is an excellent guide, she is customer minded, very attentive and has given me the "wow" effect 😀. The driver (I am sorry I don't remember his name) is a very good one : calm and cautious (in the trafic jam 😉). We even exchanged some Dutch words 😀 . Our trip to the Temple was made very enjoyable by our guide Eddy who we found to be very informative about the temple. He gave us some good guidance about what to watch out for and what to put away in regards to the monkeys at the temple. If in Bali the temple is a must to see! I highly recommend Master Bali tours.

We had a great time with our driver/guide Yus! He showed up exactly on time and even waited patiently for us as we were running a little late. On the way to Uluwatu, he graciously took us on small detours to make sure we got to see a few of the sites we mentioned and provided us with a lot of history/info during the drive. Overall it was a great tour (and he also protected us from those sneaky mischievous monkeys at the temple).

This was an awesome tour! The spa treatment was amazing and the temple tour was very fun. You will see lots of monkeys at the temple along with amazing views of the cliffs and ocean. Our tour guide Edy did a fantastic job showing us around the temple. He was on time, very knowledgeable, and treated us like he was our friend which is nice. I recommend anyone coming to Bali to check this out.
