The Hector Pieterson Memorial Museum opened in 2002, not far from the spot where 12-year-old Hector was shot on the 16 June 1976 during the Soweto uprising. Hector was one of the youths that died in the protest against having Afrikaans as the medium of instruction in local schools.

We had Delone as a tour guy and as he had promised, it was a memorable tour. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel. His knowledge about not only Soweto, bu also the surroundings on our way to Soweto was fantastic. We booked a half day tour and went on a Sunday.

My friends and I used KND for our trip to Pilansberg and Sun City and we also did the Soweto tour and it was amazing. The service was great and we were very impressed and pleased at the vast knowledge our tour guide. He took us to all the historical sites in Soweto and the surrounding areas and at each stop he would explain the significance there of and he could easily answer all our questions. Delone took us on a tour through soweto. He is very knwoledgeable and made us feel safe the entire journey even when we decided to walk in the middle of one of the poorest parts of soweto. He also took us to visit one of the houses so we could have a clear view on what it is like to live in soweto. He covered all the key spots of this township, including the places of the 1976 killings and mandelas old house. definitely recommended.

We used knd for our airport transfers and for a soweto tour. The tour was fab, and our guide was amazingly knowledgeable about all areas of south africa history (and many other things too). All airport transfers were reliable and on time in good quality clean vehicles. Highly reccomend!
