Great Wsy to See Joberg & Soweto

A half day tour is a great way to get a quick broad look at Johannesburg and Soweto. Probably a bit quick as there is a lot to see but thats all the time we had

Eye opening visit to Soweto in South Africa

The visit to Soweto was amazing and felt authentic, as earlier in my time around Joburg I was in the Rosebank and Sandton areas so it was a major contrast. But the locals were friendly, the tour guide was very informative and the braai meal was satisfying.

Outstanding experience

Thabang is an outstanding, impressive, motivated young man, his knowledge and passion for his Soweto area was commendable. We learnt a lot and found it a sobering experience. A tour that should not be missed. Thank you.

A raw but honest experience of Soweto

Neo was a very good driver and collected us on time. He explained the history of Soweto to us very well. At times this was both confronting and uplifting!

Insight into society.

The tour was very interesting and has enormously improved my understanding of the people who live here. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to understand the society here away from tourism.

Fantastic educational experience

“Don’t go to the townships, it’s dangerous, you’ll be ambushed,” that was what we heard when we left for South Africa. Yet the townships and certainly Soweto belong to the history of the country. We went on tour with Thabang and that was great. The day before we received a clear explanation about pick-up time. The day itself a clear Whatsappje. Thabang showed us Soweto as it is, without sugarcoating or asking for pity. Highly recommended for anyone visiting South Africa! Our children are 10 and 12 and found it a super educational experience! Great! Thabang and team, thank you very much for the experience. Too bad we didn't have more time.

An experience of a lifetime!

I have rarely ever taken a tour as fascinating and worthwhile as this one. The guide picks you up at a place of your your own choosing, then takes you to Soweto while telling you about the many facets of this place. Coming from Europe we had our very own expectations and preconceptions of this place. I underestimated both the size and the diversity of it. It‘s not only shantytowns! The whole history of apartheid, the uprising of 1976 and its aftermath hit differently when you walk these streets and talk to people who were affected by it one way or another, and still you see people for what they are – not that different from everyone else, living their daily lives as best they can, embracing community and family. You get to meet real people and hear personal stories, an experience that not many of us “Westerners” get to have, and I will be forever grateful for the privilege of being so warmly welcomed despite my preconceptions. Most importantly, despite the weird feeling you just can’t shake off if you first visit a place you only ever heard rumours about, we never felt unsafe and were treated very warmly by the inhabitants of Soweto. African hospitality truly is unmatched. You leave this place a changed man for sure. I want to extend a special thanks to Thabang, our guide who made this experience unforgettable. It felt like being shown around your friend‘s neighbourhood. Highly recommended!

Must do!

We found this trip extremely valuable, you also see South Africa from its other side and you get a better picture of it through personal stories. You also go to places that are a little more special than the average tourist places. The guide Thabang was fantastic. pick up at our hotel and return home was perfectly arranged. Absolutely recommended!
