South Sea Island Half Day with Lunch & Drinks

Our half-day trip to South Sea Island was a fantastic experience. It was wonderful to get away to a secluded little island, enjoy local food, and have the option of beer or wine. Everything was exceptionally well done, and the local cultural performance was an unexpected bonus that we really appreciated. There was surprisingly a lot to do on such a small island, so it was easy to find something enjoyable whether you wanted to relax, explore, eat, drink, or take in the surroundings. One piece of advice: bring reef shoes! Much of the surrounding shoreline is rocky reef, while other areas have broken pieces of dead coral. It can definitely be uncomfortable on bare feet. The catamaran ride to and from the island was comfortable and surprisingly fast. Keep in mind, though, that Mother Nature is in charge. The winds picked up during our visit and the waves became larger, creating some challenges for the boats picking up passengers from the various island-hopping excursions. Because of that, we ended up staying about an hour longer than scheduled. Honestly, that didn't bother us at all. We were on a beautiful island, enjoying good food, drinks, and the experience. Sometimes you just have to roll with what Mother Nature gives you. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at South Sea Island and would gladly do it again.

Way over priced for what you get. Around $450 AUD for a 1/2 day. The island is beyond windy, the sand and water are full of sharp shells/coral, people were delightful/kind as usual, never again.

The island itself was fine, the return was not. We were back at Port Denarau and on the transfer van at 4:20pm. It didn’t leave until after 5:30pm because the staff decided to wait for three passengers who hadn’t come back. Everyone who followed the instructions and returned on time lost over an hour, with no explanation and no departure time given. Those three should have been told to take a taxi. Holding a full bus for them is not fair to the rest of us. I recommend using Taxi to rerun from port to resort

A lovely half day trip. Beautiful water but beach is rocky with coral so beautiful beach shoes helpful. On a sunny day this was a great day out with the kids.

We had a great time. The trip was worth it. We travelled withbourb4 years old Triplets and they were really exited and wasn't tired at all.

Such a great experience here a must do! On arrival had a delicious lunch and enjoyed lazing on the bean bags under the shade of a palm tree. Snorkelling was super and we could do this from the shores after my kids weren’t confident doing this from the boat. We were only in Fiji a short time so half day was perfect for us and still plenty of time to swim snorkel eat and laze

Pickup from hotel was on time and in a bus. Couldn’t fault the staff across the wharf, boat and island. The island itself isn’t great for snorkeling, but they will take you out to the reef if you want to. They had a marine biologist on the island which was great but we only found out after he had taken some people out. Would have been good to know more or in advance. The island has a pool and loungers/ bean bags well appointed. It’s about 30min from the wharf.

Although there is a guided snorkel by boat, the best snorkeling is from the beach where the yellow markers are in the water. We were surrounded by a variety of fish, close to the coral, great visibility!

Next time I would buy the ticket locally as it’s much cheaper, the folks on the island are wonderful, although don’t expect much from the BBQ buffet lol, meat was cold but otherwise it filled our tummy. Only Fiji beer included and don’t even try the “Flagon” wine 🤢 Unfortunately the day we went there was no sun and totally overcast with constant 20-30 klm wind that made it unbearable and they cancelled all water sports as it was to dangerous, the day was cut short cause of the conditions and we were taken back early and subsequently had no booked transport on the mainland and had to catch a taxi back to the Resort. You can’t beat bad luck with weather conditions and not their fault obviously but it was the worse $340 Aus I’ve ever spent… and my poor wife froze ..

Half day South Sea Island trip with lunch & drinks included, have done this many times before & always great!! Weather was perfect & sea was calm, great for swimming & snorkelling.
