Itinerary
Here, we will have an introduction to Amsterdam. How the Amsterdam we see today evolve from a fishing village 750 years ago.
A walk through medievil Amsterdam all the while covering all the amazing changes over the centuries.
We will see all the iconic Amsterdam canals and you will discover how they were built. The 17th Century was full of change for Amsterdam and we will look at all the major events that made Amsterdam the most important city in the world.
When the tour goes to the Jordaan, you will see this lovely part of Amsterdam. It used to be the area that housed the people who built the 1600's canal expansion. Now it is 'the village' part of Amsterdam. Lots of quiet streets and lovely places to eat or have a drink.
We will look at old Amsterdam as we go from the Waag to Dam Square. There is lots of history and stories to be had here.
One of the oldest hofjes in Amsterdam. It was originally used to house lay women who had not taken their vows to become nuns. A set of beautiful houses and a English Reformed chuch from 1607 and a Catholic chapel. A stunning piece of Amsterdam history.

Kenneth did a great job walking us around beautiful Copenhagen. We felt like we got a good sampling of the city. Loved all the information and stories he provided.
I think the reviews got mixed up. Kenneth sounds great!
Excellent guide and throughly enjoyed tour. Excellent pace, excellent information and great advice to continue on ourselves at the conclusion. Highly recommend this guide.
Thank you very much!
Great tour. Our guide David is very knowledgeable and clearly loves and admires Dutch people and their culture. Stopped briefly for a fabulous cookie and ended with a coffee and pastry stop ( you pay). I’ve been to Amsterdam a number of times and saw many things that were new to me as well as new information. Highly recommend.
Many thanks for your kind words. I am happy you liked the tour!
David gave us a great introduction to the city, Dutch culture and some of its artists. In a relatively compact area of town this native English speaker shares his love for his adopted city. He’s personable fun and informative. And when we threw a little twist at him, he enthusiastically joined our group in our 30-second dance party.
Thanks Peter. It was lovely to meet your group and the dance party was fun!
While this was a 3 hour walking tour, it had plenty of stops and breaks to make it very enjoyable. David showed us hidden sights we would have never found on our own and found some great photo ops. He also gave a wonderful suggestion for what to do on our own afterwards. Highly recommend even if you’ve been to Amsterdam before.
I am so happy you enjoyed the tour!
David is an exceptional guide. He is knowledgeable, an excellent storyteller and super patient Walking around Amsterdam listening to his stories and perspectives was a fun way to learn about a new place His knowledge of art and culture is outstanding He went the extra mile for his clients and gifted each one of us a post card with an envelope which he printed from the pics he took of the city. He talked about how the art of writing and sending a post card is getting lost and encouraged us to do so I highly recommend David for your tours Thanks David!
Thank you! I am happy you liked the cards. Safe travels, David
