Small-Group 3-day Cusco Tour to Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu & Rainbow Mountain

We booked the 3-day Cusco tour through Exploor because we really wanted to enjoy these highlights around Cusco in peace and without stress. The communication beforehand with the German Exploor founder Erik was extraordinary for us as a German-speaking couple. He was available at all times for questions and tips, even for our travel before and after the Exploor tour. (We organized the remaining 2 weeks in Peru on our own) In our opinion, that is not something to be taken for granted. During the 3 days, everything was really taken off our hands organizationally, and we were able to concentrate on the essentials... enjoying the beautiful landscapes and Inca sites. Communication via the WhatsApp group set up in advance was very good. We were informed about everything important there. (Pick-up time, guides, food, equipment, etc...) At almost any time during the 3 days, we had a contact person or a guide by our side. (Only the train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes is done alone. However, you are taken to the right platform in Ollantaytambo and picked up in Aguas Calientes immediately after getting off.) (The same in the other direction.) The guides were super nice, had a lot of interesting knowledge about the respective highlights, and spoke perfect English! It doesn't get any better than that. The food in the well-selected restaurants during the tours was also very good. Highlights & group sizes: Sacred Valley - 4 people + guide & driver - Archaeological site of Moray, salt mines of Maras & excavation site of Ollantaytambo Machu Picchu - Personal tour (just the two of us + guide) - Circuit 2 at 7:00 a.m., then Circuit 1 on the Montaña Machu Picchu (unfortunately we had to abort the ascent of the Montaña because it started to rain extremely hard...) - Our recommendation: Only visit Circuit 2. Mandatory viewpoint + photo spot and tour through the ruins -> perfect combo. (Book far in advance, as that is the most popular circuit!) Rainbow Mountain - Private tour (just the two of us + guide & driver) - Pickup as early as 3:00 AM… It's tough, but worth it! - We were almost the first visitors at the summit; after that, it gets crowded relatively quickly. - Strenuous approx. 1.5-2 hour ascent, as the air at 5000m is very thin; walk slowly; 360° view at the summit is sensational. - Unfortunately, it snowed heavily the day before for us, so not much of the colors were visible. However, you cannot influence the weather, and it was still worth it. Conclusion: An all-around successful package! While it is logically a bit more expensive than doing the whole thing on your own or joining a larger guided group, you can enjoy it more, take more time at the various highlights, and soak up a lot of interesting information from the guides. The entire team at Exploor does an outstanding job! German precision, paired with Peruvian laid-backness (: We can only recommend it!

Used Exploor for a 10 day trip through Lima, Sacred Valley & the Amazon. The team was super flexible planning an itinerary and made really helpful comments and suggestions. On the trip everything ran like clockwork and we never waited for a transfer or guide. Would recommend Exploor to anyone

I requested, booked, and made the payment for the tours 5 months prior to my trip, that is, since January 2026, and although the selected tours were carried out, once in Cusco I had no certainty about the tour for each day, as the agency improvised all the time, with the biggest problem being the acquisition of tickets for Machu Picchu. We managed to get the tickets and do the tour to Machu Picchu, but due to the lack of planning, at the last minute with train tickets, bus tickets, and information from the guide, the guide became stressed, making the visit to Machu Picchu a bad experience, a rude and arrogant guide rushed us through the tour, which made our visit to Machu Picchu unpleasant; I entered circuit 3 and the tour was done in 30 minutes. The guide, Tom, was rude and unethical, affecting both the tourists and the agency's image. I do not recommend this agency.

The guides (Vidal and Jorge) were extraordinary! Super knowledgeable and attentive, and really making sure we had a good time. The hotel where we stayed was perfect, too - very central and comfortable, exactly what we expected.

Exploor made it really easy for us to visit places we never thought possible. The team were so knowledgeable and helpful and gave us the time we needed at each stop along the way. Thank you all so much for an unforgettable three days.

We had a great trip to Peru, thanks to Exploor. They handled all the logistics from airport transfers to hotel reservations to transportation and tour guides to admission tickets and meals. We didn’t have to think about any details and were able to take in and enjoy the beautiful sites. Our guides Walter, Maik and Joel were all excellent. The communication from the whole team was great. We felt very take care of. We loved seeing Machu Picchu and the rainbow mountains. We also had a great time in Huacachina in the sand dunes. We had many early mornings but it allowed us to beat the crowds and not feel like we were in crowded tourist locations.

I have nothing but nice things to say! As someone who usually plans all of our own trips and all the logistics, this was so nice to have Exploor Peru do it for us. Everyone on the entire team was extremely professional kind and treated us like family. They were on time they provided daily updates with clear direction on the activities for the next day. Each of the staff that we interacted with were amazing and so friendly and genuine. I think that’s truly what made our trip that much more special was how they treated us like family. They provided us insight that you wouldn’t necessarily get in doing a large group tour. I have nothing but kind words to say for every single person on their team and highly suggest this company if you were thinking of coming to Peru.

We had an unforgettable experience exploring the Sacred Valley, hiking the one-day Inca Trail from KM 104, and visiting Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) with our guide Junior and driver Edwin. They did an amazing job taking care of our group of nine, and we loved every moment—these are truly priceless memories we’ll take home with us. Junior impressed us with his incredible knowledge; there wasn’t a single question he couldn’t answer. We really appreciated his thoughtful, detailed explanations throughout the trip. Junior was also incredibly organized and made sure we got the most out of each experience. We have to give a special shout-out to Edwin and Jesus for making sure we made it to our 5 a.m. train in time to start the Inca Trail! Exploor is an incredibly organized and communicative company. Throughout our 11 months of planning Erik provided timely, helpful responses, and every schedule was thoughtfully designed and very efficient. While we were in Cusco, Karen sent daily messages to prep for the next day. The early mornings were absolutely worth it for the quiet sites and amazing photo opportunities! We highly recommend working with their team! Overall, an exceptional week in Cusco and the Sacred Valley —highly recommend!
