Excellent, even in the...
Excellent, even in the pouring rain! Our guide was wonderful and we saw so much wildlife, including 4 sloths! We brought our 2.5 year old with us and he had a blast too. Do bring rain gear, better to be safe than sorry.

Sloth’s Territory is a private reserve located in El Tanque, less than 10 minutes away from La Fortuna downtown (Arenal Volcano). The place, managed by the Rodriguez Perez Family, it’s a truly gem with vibrant flora & fauna. The observation hike, a truly enigmatic experience is developed through a safe path. this trail runs the reserve along La Havana River, and offers the opportunity to observe many kind of animals in it’s natural habitat. Two & three-toed sloths, opossums, red frogs, porcupines, different kind of birds such as; Toucans, Tanagers, Royal Flycatchers, Hummingbirds, Parrots, Honeycreepers, Cinnamon Woodpeckers, enrich the activity. Our expert guide will carefully show you, all our different attractions and will give you through a unique lifetime experience. The tour includes a trained guide during the whole hike with professional telescope and it finish with a break to enjoy our more selected seasonal fruits (most of them from our organic field).

For our night hike starting at 6:00pm, it is the best time to look for animals with nocturnal behavior. During this hike, you will have the chance to see different kind of frogs, kinkajous, snakes, spiders, bats and eventually: two and three-toed sloths (but it is not the focus of this specific hike). While the night starts and the sky gets full of stars, our well-trained guide will keep you safe while you continue the hike through our property. The trail is accessible for all ages, so this is an activity where the whole family can enjoy it. The duration of this activity is 1 and a half to 2 hours. The tour includes a trained guide during the whole hike, with professional equipment, a flashlight for each participant and we finish as well with a break of enjoying fresh seasonal fruits. Solid wildlife tour and almost guaranteed sloth sightings
This was a solid wildlife tour! Our guide was knowledgable and pointed out lots of different wildlife in the two hours or so that we were with him. He was particularly adept at positioning phone cameras at the eyepiece of his scope so that we could capture animals up close, so we got some great shots of macaws, monkeys, and even a baby sloth! Since this tour happens in Sloth's Territory, they have trackers who go out in the morning and verify that the sloths are present, so it's very, very likely (almost guaranteed) that you will see sloths.

No sloths
Did not really see any sloths. The guide found a couple high up in trees. Saw more other animals and lizards on the ground. It intermittently was pouring rain during our visit so maybe why the sloths were difficult to find. Guide claimed that there may be about 15 sloths in an area that is probably about two or 3 acres big. It was not worth the money.

This tour was awesome! We saw 6 sloths, as well as various other wildlife. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, and knew the answer to every single question we had. Also free watermelon at the end!

This is your sloth tour!
As I told our incredible and amazing guide Bernald, he was worth every penny, 5 stars!!! We saw several 2 and 3 toed sloths and 2 mammas with babies! He pointed out birds and insects and explained the ecosystem beautifully. Our guide took pictures of everything for us and answered all of our questions with patience and kindness. He was very knowledgeable, and we learned quite a bit! I totally recommend this tour- it’s educational, ethical, and if you want to see sloths in their natural environment, this is your tour!

You must visit this place in La Fortuna!
Oh wow! What an experience! We absolutely do not regret booking at this place. It is clearly worth the detour! We were lucky enough to see several sloths, some of which were "in full action" (something quite rare according to our guide). We also discovered other animals such as: porcupine, "blue jeans" frogs, various birds, etc. The guide (Ivana) was of very high quality, very knowledgeable, and really kind. She is equipped with a telescope and takes photos/videos for us, which is extraordinary given that the sloths are way up in the air!!! We definitely recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed!

Amazing family adventure
We saw two types of sloths on the tour including a mama and her baby! The guide was amazing and pointed out wildlife that we wouldn’t have been able to see on our own. There were also howler monkeys and frogs. Our family had an amazing time and the guide was fun and knowledgeable and made sure that everyone in the family was able to view each animal before moving on.

Memorable and Amazing Experience
Our trip was absolutely amazing and it was all because of our guide Jason. He did such an amazing job and took his time with us showing as many animals as possible. Even got to see a glass frog and monkeys along with all the sloths, and two had babies with them. Incredible and memorable. So glad we decided to go with this tour instead of the many others to choose from. Go here if you’re looking, it does not disappoint.
