Sloth Watching Trail

I turned up here for a quick guided tour in between others on a very busy single day in Fortuna. Note - the price goes up if you pay by card, not cash. Had 1 1/2 hour tour. Guide was OK but not so interested in getting good photos, which was why I was there. It's a short walk and they guarantee you will see sloths, which I did. Luckily I saw a Mum and baby (but couldn't get an in-focus shot thanks to the guide) and another sloth scratching itself. We were lucky as we may have only seen lumps of sleeping fur. Good place to go to tick sloths off your 'must see' list and easy to find on the outskirts of Fortuna. An easy walk for children and less able too.

This was a fun activity for our family and we saw a bunch of animals, not only sloths. The experience is a little bit controlled in that the area is pretty small (maybe a few acres) and there are resident sloths who they know by name living there. You are pretty much guaranteed to see them. They bring little scope so you can see the sloths way up in the canopy. Our guide Josue was great, he said he only learned English 4 months ago but he was completely fluent and very patient with our group.

We saw at least 5 Sloths despite torrential rain so well worth doing as they are hard to spot without a guide

My daughter and I loved our tour with Josef. He was very knowledgeable and shared many fascinating details about the plants and flowers all around us as well as about the birds, frogs and of course, sloths. We would not have noticed most of the details he pointed out to us on our own. Josef was warm and friendly and an expert at spotting the sloths and describing their behavior and habits. He also taught us some Tica slang at our request. We really enjoyed our tour with him. Pura Vida!

Erick was incredible! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the sloth trail both fun and educational. We got to see sloths, frogs, bullet ants, owls, hummingbirds, and learned so much about Costa Rican native wildlife. It was an incredible tour, and I highly recommend going with Erick!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly! We saw seven sloths, one very close up, plus many other animals. Very organized and easy.

Top notch experience. Plenty of unique and interesting wildlife. Our guide, Michael, was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. He made our time worth it, pointing out the various creatures and plants that make up the beautiful enclosure and often giving a little story about their background, especially with the sloths. He was an extremely good communicator and made up for our poor knowledge of Spanish with his excellent English. He even taught us a few Spanish words to take home with us. Would highly recommend

Bust! Unmotivated guide! The guide himself gave no information! Questions were often answered with "I don't know."
