Description
Family-owned and operated since 1976, Trail Breaker Kennel is one of the longest operating kennels in Alaska. The kennel was founded in Eureka, Alaska, by the late Susan Butcher, a four-time Iditarod champion, and David Monson, her husband and Yukon Quest champion.
This activity allows visitors to step inside our historic kennel, meet our mushers and huskies, and learn about the sport of mushing. Located 10 minutes from downtown, this conveniently located kennel provides easy access to the Alaskan wilderness.

Incredible Experience!
We had an AMAZING dog sled cart ride. Unforgettable. Definitely worth the money, and definitely a highlight of the year's travel.
Our musher, Katrina, was fantastic. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the team and alert to everything--like she had one eye for each of the eight dogs on our team and another pair for everything that was going on on either side of the trail.
The one-hour trip took us down a track, forest trail, and up a shallow stream. The ride was bouncy and fun.
Bring warm clothes and let the musher tell you what to wear. They really know their stuff!

A must in Alaska
Katerina was the best guide and wonderful host, she provided us with hot coffee for our run with the dogs and let us take pictures and pet and love on the animals, she is a sweet lady and takes care of 48 dogs pretty much by herself and knows all of their names on the spot so she’s a good dog mom! We loved it!!
Operator response
Thank you so much for visiting for a cart ride! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your time with Katrina and our Alaskan husky athletes.

Terrific Experience
Anna Marie was extremely knowledgeable and welcomed any and all questions regarding the dogs or dogsledding. The 4 mile cart trip was awesome as Anna Marie spoke with the dogs and explained what she was doing during the trip. Being able to meet and pet the dogs afterwards was great! Highly recommend this trip if you are in the Fairbanks area.

Fun and Unique
It was a really cool experience. The tour lady was very friendly and attentive. The dogs were really friendly as well. The only downfall was that when I booked I do not recall seeing anywhere that if the snow on the ground was not enough, that we would not be able to ride the sled. Instead we rode a gas powered four wheeler and dogs helped pulled. The dogs listen very well to all the instructor's commands. Overall, it was a unique experience. I would use this company again except I would call first to make sure I am able to ride the actual sled.
