Description

The organisation's drive is in changing the narrative of the common story of British history. Through studying Sociology, History and Black Studies, our organisation have been able to unpack years of documented events that have been archived in national and international storage facilities, interviewed award winning authors and studied academic journals. This journey has given us the opportunity to access a range of perspectives, compare and contrast theorists and to build a better historical outlook. Having developed the ability to put theory into practice, we have spent years engaging in the conversation on British colonialism, hosting tours of the City London and contributing research to gallery and museum exhibitions. This tour has the cutting edge like no other educational experience, packed with hidden history, humour, jaw dropping facts and a view of some London's ancient and modern architecture.

You won't find a better way of spending am afternoon.

I have never finished a tour or a history talk so shocked, inspired and informed. I am a huge 'tourist' and gatherer of knowledge and history and the tour was the best I've been on. The way Darrel presented the information, unapologetic, personal and at is core informative was superb. The links illustrated between what we are told about history, figures in history and the actual history were emotionally and culturally shocking.

London City Slave Trade Money Trail Tour

The Slave Trade Money Trail Tour in the City of London is an essential experience for anyone interested in history, social justice, or human rights. It's a sobering reminder of the past's ongoing impact on our present. Mr. Darrel Blake, our guide, delicately wove the sensitive topic of how the transatlantic slave trade significantly contributed to London's development during the 17th to 19th centuries. Mr. Blake brought into perspective London’s wealth accumulation and urban growth from the slave trade profits that fueled its economic growth. The Slave Trade Money Trail Tour delved into intricacies of the African slave trade, from its roots to its abolition, to the lasting legacy of slavery in modern London. Visiting iconic financial and vital locations in London added depth to the narrative of how the slave trade wealth reinforced social stratification, solidifying elite power. Our guide's knowledge and passion made the experience truly unforgettable. He shared personal experiences and artifacts that brought his narrated stories to life. Understanding London's complex history is crucial for contextualizing the city's modern-day diversity, cultural dynamics, and ongoing social justice and this tour is highly recommended.

EYE OPENING & JAW DROPPING...!!!

As we stood outside the Royal Exchange waiting for the tour to start the rain came down, but was soon forgotten as Darrel our tour guide took us back in time. His delivery is clear and concise, his knowledge is vast and backed by proof. Darrel allows you to get involved not just by asking questions but he makes sure that you have heard, and received the information given, by challenging your memory about what you have just learnt. This is my second tour with Darrel and both tours were incredible, I got 16 of my school friends together to learn about what they didn't teach us in school 4 decades ago. What a fabulous time we had, thank you very much Mr Darrel Blake for a fantastic educational day. I would definitely recommend that you take your children and or grandchildren on this tour.

I'm enlightened

This experience was amazing. As a first generation British person with Caribbean background there was much I didn't know about the slave trade in Britain. I have been to the City of London often, in total ignorance of which buildings, streets and banks associated with the slave trade. I am educated somewhat now and will continue to research and embrace my heritage. I'm woke now! Thank you Daryl you are a GREAT guide and tour representative. I pray God's blessings on your future tours to educate both the educated and uneducated. I will be spreading the word!

A Great Touching Experience

I attended Darrel’s tour with my sister and two nieces, one word to describe it was phomonmel. My intentions for attending the tour was to have a better understanding of the slave trade and know the history of my ancestors. The tour really opened up my eyes and revealed so much history that has been hidden for so many years. Growing up and not being told the full story of the journeys of my ancestors made and the unfortunate circumstances they had to endure, made me feel as though something was definitely missing. There were a few moments that really touched me and bought on an emotion due to what had been taken place during slavery. My nieces also took so much from the tour, they’re 13 & 15 so it was great for them to also be a part of it. I couldn’t recommend this tour enough, Darrel truly delivered and exceeded my expectations. His delivery was amazing and he spoke in way that all those attending would have a good understanding. You could definitely tell he’s really taken the time out to research and understand the truth of the slave trade and then on top of that organised tours to share with us all. He shared some artefacts with the group which were truly mind blowing. It was great that he was able to bring a group of strangers together and by the end of the tour you all felt like friends. If you habe availability please book this tour, you’ll not be disappointed.
