Silfra Drysuit Snorkeling Tour with Free Photos - From Reykjavik

It was a really cool experience! Floating through the Silfra was magical. Clearest water, interesting underwater world, changing depth and we were lucky and had sunny weather, which made it even nicer. Pick Up was well organised and very friendly. Dory was our snorkle guide, she explained everything we needed to know very well and always kept an eye on whether everything was okay. And she put us in and out of the dry suit. We felt safe all the time. Would totally recommend!

It’s not actually as cold as you might think, the Dry Suits keep you reasonably warm(ish). Absolutely GREAT !

There is no color to be seen, just rocks with a little bit of seaweed/grass tendrils. I was surprised that there were places just barely deep enough for my body to pass over the rocks and then there would be a deep hole! I wore 4 pairs of wool socks and my feet were not cold; a medium and heavy thermal lower underwear and 2 medium base layers and 1 heavy base layer undershirts and I was not cold. My hands were not cold, either, which surprised me. The gloves are semi permeable, allowing water in which is warmed by your hands. There was lots of help getting into the dry suit - I put mine on backwards to begin with 🤣🥴. The walk to the entrance point wasn't a problem even waddling with the dry suit. I didn't linger in the lagoon at the end as I became aware of my face being cold. Coming back from exit carrying my fins required more effort, but I was sick with a cold and had little energy anyway. I had a little difficulty with water seeping into my mask and was shown how to correct that. Near the end I had a little water in my snorkle, rolled over and signaled the guide, Arnil, who came immediately to help me. Going at 9am avoided the crowds and pressure to go through the fissure quickly! Stripping down to thermals and putting on the provided onesie was a little odd in mixed company and no problem as I didn't put on my 3 extra layers of wool socks until then. I can't have the hot chocolate and they had hot herbal tea for me, perfect! After redressing I walked back to the entrance point and there were several groups waiting to go in. So glad I went on the 9am trip. We were first to go in. Even waiting for our driver to return from Reykjavik, we were back in Reykjavik by 1. Our driver, Greter, told us all about the history of the fissure and Parliament on our drive to the fissure entrance area. We had to walk from Parking area 5 to the snorkel site; and back after our snorkle. There is a church and hill climb one can do. I saw 2 spotted trout in the brook before the parking area. There are WCs at both the parking area and the snorkel staging site. Your belongings are left in the changing van, which is open.

I want to thank my guide, Louis, he was fantastic, professional, fun, and incredibly attentive to my every need, especially when I ran into a minor issue with my wetsuit. Was absolutely beautiful and Luis our guide just made it that much more enjoyable. Dry suits worked admirably and with the exception of a cold face, all the rest was totally OK.
